The search for plastic peoples continues…
Toy collecting is as natural to the modern civilized man child as breathing. It provides a bit of escapism relief from the modern trials and tribulations of adult life. I’ve tried to curtail and control this habit by sticking with a particular line, or subject with some success. I’ve pretty much collected whatever transformer I wanted, so any urge to by them is satisfied by buying for my 6 and 4-year-old nephews. Military action figures though; hard addiction. Once I told myself only 1/18th scale, And I survived Sigma 6 unscathed. But the more I try to get away from plastic, THEY PULL ME BACK IN!. Damn you Classified Joes…Damn you. SO smug in my self-control was I in thinking I would avoid you. @ years of no new Joes and some nice sculpting has sucked my in to your siren song of purchasing. Whoa is me. The urge to Hunt has been renewed… and it feels good. I search the wild of Big Box stores; tracking, surveying the aisles, interviewing many a store worker. Approach with new vigor I have talked to; disgruntled old aisle managers for whom the joy of youth has long been forgotten, nubile young cuties making minimum wage saving for smartphone accessories, and pimple marked young men that are the next vanguard of nerdom (my peoples). The hunt started innocently enough one day. It was a Roadblock that I came upon. A simple Target Roadblock. And with a “hello” and scanning a different take on this classic much beloved character, the thought came “It’s only one guys, what could it hurt? He would be inspiration for a future 1/18th custom. Buy him. Just the one. What could it hurt?” Oh, the folly. It was the beginning. And we bring to you the tale of today’s successful HUNT. The land of the Neighborhood Walmart was the place today. A land most familiar to my eye for I had previously succeeded on pouncing on Duke. Last night’s leftovers held no sway for me as lunch today. I sought something new. Something fresh. A large southwest chicken salad brought me into the fray of commerce this morning. The primary quarry quickly dispatched and secured into the cart, I turned my wary eye North and thought…maybe …just maybe I can quickly survey this land of aisles for ….more plastic. I slowly made my way past the aisles most pharmaceutical, onward I marched sliding past an island full popcorn and rotisserie chicken. When I reached women’s clothing, my pace slowed as there could be a threat of lurking scalpers nearby. Feeling relatively safe and seeing the safety of the clearance isle, the cart made it’s way forward as my mind focused on….THE HUNT. The smell of fresh VOCs was thick in this toy land. I could see Barbies before me, smiling for the world. Out beyond, Hot wheels! Hot wheels are an indicator species of boydom. They were well stocked today and surely my quarry is near. Adrenaline pumping, the careful eyes of this collector peered the aisle that net me with the bounty of hot wheels. My eyes adjusted to the colorful cacophony that laid before me in the boy toys aisle. And so I scanned for my prey. Beyond the transformers, further off from Fortnite and Jurassic Park, my eyes searched for a glimpse of something Joe. And there it was, moved oh so slightly behind another smaller toy line’s packaging I spotted something with red hair. Could it be? The sassy Joe intelligence officer was there at full attention in the wild. The hunger was too great. My eyes loomed large. Froth escaped my maw as the voice inside my head screamed GET SCARLETT...And I pounced on her with my salad tucked under my left arm and an avocado in hand she was secured for purchase. The struggle by the popular red head; nigh nonexistent. She surrenders her fate to my collection as had Roadblock, Beachhead, and Duke. As I swiped my card at self-checkout thus concluding the hunt, a thought came to me. “Today Scarlet; Tomorrow the WORLD MUHWA HAHAHA!” So, who wants to share a Classified Collector Story? |

My story isn't as interesting. I looked for Destro. He was not there. The end.

Gamestop dude. I ordered 2 for other members here, and he's still in stock.

I found a place selling them, I preordered them back in April. Still waiting because apparently there is now a domestic release down here in Aug/Sep.
I went to Zing because they had him 10 cheaper and preordered PD Destro. Not expected till October. The End. |

I got tired of looking for them...so i pre-ordered a few from Hasbro Pulse. On Tuesday, after i dropped my kid off at soccer practice I found a Destro at the Target around the corner from the fields. I really don't want to have to keep checking every free moment i get for Baroness and the Cobra Trooper...but I will until I have them.

Keep an eye on Amazon for Destro. I've noticed they restock him but quickly run out. I snagged him a week ago. However, if you're looking for MIB, I would go another route as both Destro and Snake Eyes's packaging was damaged when I got them, although I'm not telling you guys anything you don't already know.

Duke, Roadblock, and Scarlett arrived in one box, all in great condition. Destro shipped separately for some reason which worried me. It came in their frustration free cardboard packaging or whatever they call it and not a bubble envelope. Damage free, thank goodness. I’m an opener if that matters any... Ordered Duke,Scarlet,Roadblock and are in. Snake Eyes, Destro,Cobra Commander and 3 red Ninjas are still on pre-order with me. I ordered at different places "due to availability" So it is the reason why some are still out and those 3 are in. |
