One of the drones manages to deliver a payload and the cruiser next to mine is swallowed by the ocean. Bullets whiz though the air.
A green shirt in diving gear trues to pull himself on to my deck. An iron-tipped boot to the face sends him back in to the water. The Joes are all around us, though. A handful have successfully made their way on to our ships. An IG i haven't met yet is running the guns on board, and I can see a Joe making a beeline towards him. He's firing so quickly and the gun is so loud, I know he'll never hear the Joe coming. I follow in the green shirt's footsteps, firing every step of the way. A head peeks over the edge of the deck and the glass on the goggles shatters as I put a bullet through the unlucky bastard's skull. Others are maimed, just crippled enough to take the fight from them. Leaping over bodies, I finally catch up with the green shirt. He's almost to the top of the ladder when I grab his ankle and throw him to the ground. He knows me, I can see it in his face, but I don't recognize him. His knowing doesn't deter him from pointing his gun at me, so I kick it away before he can pull the trigger. "You traitor!" he screams, scrambling to tackle me. A passing vessel sends a wave crashing over the side of the boat, and I lose my footing, toppling over on top of the Joe ( I f@cking hate boats). His hands find my neck, "You were supposed to be dead! We buried you!" The heavy salt water constricts my uniform, I can't find a gun or a knife, so I use the little room that I have to punch the Joe in the pressure point right below his nose. Instead of pulling back, I keep pushing and he pulls back quickly, letting go of my neck. "You joined them?" he sounds incredulous, "they're the bad guys!" I shake my head, "Only on your side of the fight." He screams and jumps at me again. I'm ready, though, and I sidestep him. He falls flat on his stomach, the air forced from his lungs in a loud, "Ooof!" I resist the temptation to jump on his back and break his neck. "Go. Get off my boat. I don't want to see you again." Another green shirt pokes his head where it doesn't belong (really? These are the best trained soldiers in the world and I'm playing Whack-a-Joe with them?) and gets a friendly boot to the face. A thud and a clink behind me slows things down for a second. Things go quiet. The grenade's blast throws pieces of deck all over, a long shard of metal grazes the side of my head. Otherwise, I'm unscathed but for the ringing of my ears. I look up and my gunner is slumped over his gun, shrapnel sticking from his side. Before I know it, I'm at his side, pulling the shrapnel out and tending the wound. It's not deep, and I stop the bleeding with ease, but he's unconscious. A quick glance down and I see the Joe I didn't kill. A shard of metal (the one I dodged?) sticks out of his back. (Pulls out the SURVIVAL KNIFE and gets the fishing line out of the handle and wraps around both hands) Time for you to cry for a medic or die you GI JOE piece of puke!
