Chapter 15: Deadly Triangle: Part 1 The Assault on the U.S.S. FLAGG Northern Scotland; Castle Destro Castle Destro sits atop the Dunnottar Rock like a monolithic stone gargoyle. Within its ancient medieval walls is one of the most technologically advanced strong-holds ever built. High atop this fortress, Destro sits in his two thousand square foot office, in a large and comfortable throne-like chair. Standing before him is a tall man with long black hair wearing a prison uniform. Although he is a young man, he looks tired and haggard, as though he has been through hell and back. Destro~ "You have a hard day friend, but you may rest now as a guest in my home. However, know that I have not freed you from prison out of the kindness of my heart. There is a debt to be paid." Zanzibar~ "What's all this then, what do you want from me?" Destro~ "I want you to perform an errand. You work for me now. I will see that you are well taken care of, but I require complete obedience." Zanzibar~ "Look here mate, I'm a Dreadnok. I don't order orders from no one, well...besides Zartan anyway. And besides, If I was to Moonlight as your stooge, Cobra might have somethin to say about that. That's all I need is Cobra assassins comin after me." Destro~ "You fool! You were apprehended by a G.I. Joe DEF strike team over a year ago. For twelve months you have been rotting in a maximum security military prison. Has Zartan or Cobra lifted a finger to break you free from your imprisonment? If my men had not freed you, you would grow and and die in your cell. However, If you insist on remaining loyal, I can always deliver you back to your captors." Destro presses a button on his desk, "Guards, please escort our guest back to his prison Cell." Zanzibar~ "WAIT, wait, hold on now!" Two Grenadier guards enter the room, Lord Destro waves them off and they stand down. Zanzibar~ "I suppose you have a point there. They said they'd come for me if I got pinched, and the bastards never showed. But before I agree, whats in it for me?" Destro Smiled grimly, "You are an experienced Seaman and a cunning pirate, one of the best from what I understand. I will provide you with a new ship, and troops to command, highly trained operators, Divers, Sailors. You will have several months to train and prepare, after which time, you will launch a raid on a target of my choosing. It will be dangerous, but you will have full tactical and logistical support from my Iron Grenadiers." Zanzibar exhales slowly. He's always been used to running smuggling jobs, in and out nice and quiet. The only assaults he had led were on easy marks like merchant ships and private yachts. Whatever Destro had in store for him was probably going to be more dangerous than he would have liked, but still, it sounded like fun. "Alright, I'll do it. Its been a while since I shot a pufter. So what's the target?" Destro~ "A Nimitz class Supercarrier, the U.S.S. FLAGG." Zanzibar's face turned ghost white as the blood rushed away from his face. "That's suicide man, just Roger me now! Look, I'm crazy but I'm not stupid...Carriers are armed to the teeth with close range weaponry, not to mention they travel with a strike group; were talking missile cruisers, frigates, submarines. Then you got fleet security commando teams, Marines, Seals! Shit man, you ever gone up against a coast guard gunship, good luck with that, and your going to take on the U.S. Navy Destro?" Destro storms across the room with surprising speed and smacks Zanzibar with a backhanded fist. Zanzibar, tall and sturdy, holds his ground and smiles a bloody smile. Destro~ "Silence Fool! This Carrier is the smallest of it's class, designed for stealth. The Flagg was built in utter secrecy. It's existence is known only to those with the highest clearance. The CVN 99 only performs covert special warfare actions, and hence it does not travel with a carrier strike group. It is however heavily armed and well manned. You will be going up against the G.I. Joe Special Missions Force, the best of the best. I will get you close enough to execute your mission, you just need to do your job or die trying, is that understood?" Several Months later... South Pacific ocean; Cobra Island There is an uncharted Island in the south Pacific, some say its man made, but that's just the product of over active imaginations. The island's indigenous population could attest to the fact that the Island was not man made, if any of them were still alive that is. Whatever the Island once was, it now serves as the central hub of the Terrorist organization, Cobra. It is surrounded by several layers of coastal defenses, missile arrays, AA batteries, and those are just the automated systems. The island is also guarded by an army of highly trained and battle hardened mercenaries; The Cobra legions, Vipers, Eels, Plague troopers, Crimson Guard. At the heart of it all, lies a massive structure called the Terror Drome, the home of the King Snake himself, Cobra Commander. Cobra commander has just finished his dinner and is placing his hood back onto his head. His back is to the door and behind him stands the Baroness, Major Bludd and Zartan. Now that he is ready, he turns and faces his audience. "What do you have for me?" Baroness~ "Hail Cobra! Commander, the Joes have taken the bait. They have dispatched a salvage team to retrieve the Sunken Extensive Enterprises cargo vessel. Our satellites show the Flagg en Route. It is as you said it would be Commander, forgive me for doubting you." Cobra Commander~ "There is nothing to forgive Baroness, you have served me well as always. Are the teams in place?" Baroness~ "Yes Commander, Hydro Viper and his team are ready to ambush the Joes when they attempt to explore the vessel, they will cripple the Flagg's propulsion systems. Our Satellite will bombard the Flagg with electromagnetic pulse waves, this will disable it's close range weapons systems, AND it's aircraft launch capabilities, long enough for our attack subs and high speed craft to move in. Lamprey and his boarding team will then head straight for the Bridge and destroy the command center." Cobra Commander~ "What about the signal Beacon? Our Air platform must be able to lock on to Flagg, otherwise this is just a huge waste of Time and Money." Baroness~ "Lamprey's boarding team will provide the perfect distraction for my team of Aqua Vipers. They will move in close to the hull and plant the Beacon. The Air platform will be in range by then." Zartan~ "So, you sank a Cobra Submarine, your sending in squadrons of elite Divers, as well as a small naval fleet, which you know will be destroyed by the Joes numerous attack craft, and, your going to sacrifice your Air platform in a Kamikaze attack, all for what, to sink their Aircraft carrier? Is this really worth it?" Cobra commander~ "Zartan, Zartan, My Cobra airplatform cost 4 billion dollars, my Leviathan Submarine cost 2 billion dollars, my fleet of Mantis subs and Morays cost 1 billion total, but to see the Joes lose their most valuable material asset, that is priceless! See, what you have to understand Zartan, is that the Flagg allows the Joes to project their full military strength anywhere in the world within a single day, sometimes hours. Time and time again, my plans have been foiled by the Joes ability to deploy teams of infantry and vehicles with full air support . It took us a while to figure out how they were doing it. You can use cargo planes to air drop troops and small vehicles, however the ability to airlift armored units and artillery, requires a close range support platform. We know the Joes don't have bases in every country, so they had to be operating from a mobile platform. Major Bludd has been analyzing the Joes response times and deployment configurations from our past missions, Argentina, Montana, Africa, and he discovered something interesting Major Bludd~ "Correct, the Joes had to be operating from an aircraft carrier, but the problem is that we track all of the Navy's carriers, and they are all accounted for. During our last mission, we set up a network of surveillance near the Russian Coast and we found a carrier that is NOT listed in the naval registries. Taking out that carrier will cripple the Joes ability to respond in force, the problem is, how do you take out something designed to withstand several torpedoes? No aircraft is getting anywhere near the Flagg, its AA defenses are too strong, not to mention several squadrons of Skystrikers, Ghosthawks and Conquests. So..." Baroness~ "So, we cripple the Flagg, the send in the biggest airship ever built, loaded with enough explosives to destroy a small city." Zartan~ "And what about your troops?" Cobra Commander~ "If they can get to their high speed craft in time, they might escape the blast radius. An acceptable loss." Several hours later..... North Atlantic; somewhere in the Bermuda Triangle The U.S.S. Flagg has arrived in the Bermuda Triangle, accompanied by a small salvage vessel and a small escort of Joe assault craft including a Whale Hovercraft, a Sharc, and several small sea craft. A single Skystriker is patrolling the Skies. The Local Coast guard assets have been deployed to form a two hundred square mile perimeter surrounding the target site. No private, commercial or shipping vessels are allowed past the blockade. Aboard the Flagg, Admiral Keel-Haul is having a staff briefing with a large assembly of G.I. Joe members. Shipwreck, Torpedo, Wetsuit, Tracker and two Seal teams are sitting at the front of the room next to a group of pilots. On the left and center are Deep six, Cutter, Topside, several Blueshirts, Knuckledraggers, and A-Gangers. Gung-Ho, Leatherneck, and several a squad of Marines are hanging out in the back of the room. "Alright Joes, Here is the Deal, a few days ago, the Coast guard reported a cargo ship sinking here at this location, the S.S. Ellen Austin, flying under the U.S. Flag. Apparently all hands were lost." He paused a moment in silence, being a career Seaman, any loss of life at sea was personal to him. "Now, this Vessel has been confirmed to belong to Extensive Enterprises, and because of their strong connection to the Cobra organization, this was red flagged and forwarded to G.I. Joe command. EE has submitted an inquiry regarding their lost vessel, and they have been assured that the Coast Guard is trying to locate it, as well a find any crew lost at Sea. After several days of searching, Coast Guard Search and Rescue has found no crew members. The discovery and location of the Ellen Austin is classified until we have had a chance to inspect the ship's cargo and assess any terrorist activity." Cutter~ "Admiral, this is one the busiest shipping lanes in the world, aren't we in danger of exposure here?" Keel-Haul~ "Your boys are in charge of that CG, No private, commercial or shipping vessels are allowed past the blockade. They should give us plenty of room to work in private. Miami International Airport is Diverting all flights to the North, and we have Naval air support patrolling the coast and outer perimeter." "Torpedo, Shipwreck, Wetsuit, you will take your team of S.E.A.L.S. down to the Sunken vessel and provide escort while the Salvage divers perform thir inspection. If they encounter any explosive ordinance, you will dismiss the salvage team and report immediately." Torpedo~ "Aye, aye Sir. If we do discover explosive ordinance, it may become necessary for the Flagg to evacuate the site. " Keel-Haul~ "The Anchors up and down Torpedo, if we need to move out, we'll be ready. Gung-ho, Leatherneck, your Marine F.A.S.T. Team will provide security on deck, and below. If that ship is carrying Cobra Cargo, the snakes might want it back." Gung-Ho~ "Yes Sir! Hoora." Leatherneck turns to Gung-Ho, "Any Cobra's or anyone else shows up here, its Alpha Mike Foxtrot. oora." Keel-Haul~ "Deepsix, Cutter, Topside, you will supervise the salvage operation from up here, Tracker, your SEAL Team will be on standby, in case Torpedo or Gung-Ho's Team needs support. Is that understood?" Cutter~ "Aye, aye! Understood Sir!" Keel-Haul~ "Very well, the operation will commence immediately, everyone dismissed, YOOOOO JOE!"

I apply the cords for the command on my satcom device and receive confirmation, (Dataframe) "targets confirmed...YO JOE!" Air Strike: Send in an aerial bombardment to lay down a carpet of Shock and awe on the enemy. Even if your team is in that area, you will not be hurt. Result; -1 Hurt to all targets. (Strike team and Special Ops targets all take damage) |

Iron Grenadier Leader
Use HQ Command Weapons Barrage: Offensive These are the big guns; Destroyer mounted rail guns, Satellite Weaponry, Naval bombardment, Heavy bombers, etc.. Using this command, you will rain death and destruction upon the enemy. Result; 30% of max hp damage to all enemies, including troops, vehicles and buildings. This means that if an enemy has a max hp of 100, you will do Hurt -30 to that target.
