I think we'll see new, more updated designs for the next movie. Hopefully, Hasbro will have a say in this. Notice how much better the 2010 troop builders look than the RoC stuff? Thats because Hasbro has the designs rights back. I do love the movie vipers though. I will never use them as IGs or Cobra troops. But they've definitely filled out my Cobra-La forces. I just don't want to see anything resembling them in the next movie. |

I would not say it was intentional, Hasbro just had to work with the uninspired designs from the movie. There is only so much you can do when the source material stinks.

While I personally wouldn't go so far as to call them "beautiful" designs, I don't mind the ROC Viper designs at all. I sort of wish that they had been designed to look more like the Resolute troops or Resolute Alley Vipers, but I'm ok with what they did. I also really like the look of the Elite Vipers.

While I thought ALL of the movie costumes were uninspired, some of them come across better as action figures. Plus, it gives us more fodder to make customs out of. I can't wait for these to go on clearance.

Ugly???
Baroness was in no way Ugly....and my wife thought Storm Shadow was gorgeous. The designs werent made "ugly" in my opinion...just scarier Seriously...who scares you more - a guy with a big blue helmet and mirrored facemask or a guy that looks like a skull/snake hybrid? The Vipers,The Doctor/Cobra Commander,even Destro - looked more intimidating than their ARAH counterparts

@TheLongestDay
I agree on Baroness- have no real opinion on StormShadow.. But as for the Vipers... If it was executed properly, sure a snake/ skull thing would be scary. But it wasn't. I spent weeks trying to figure out what that amorphous helmet/ mask was supposed to be. And the big clunky Roman Blinds tac vest... nah I'd be more scared of a legion of guys in snazzy uniforms with good weapons and grenades. Trust me nothing is scarier than the organized and funded riteous fanatic. |

The original Cobra trooper had little imagination in their design as it was simply a knockoff of a western villian with a bandana over their mouth. Nothing iconic about that but it worked dammit

I thought the Vipers/Neos and Elites were clearly influenced by McMullens' ancestor's mask, so I have no problem with understanding how they arrived at that design decision.
And I stand by my 'beautiful' assessment - I considered them a perfect marraige of form and function, although I also acknowledge I have a very singular view.
