I Brake For Asari!

I have most stuff I want from 82-89 (multiples on most), and that means I'm about done with the exception of getting more mint ones, or completing my swivel and straight arm 82/83 collection.
There are a few rarer pieces I'm missing, but I'll get them if I see them less expensive.
There are also several I want MOC, but I don't want AFA ones.
ARAH is close to being finalized as I'm not troop building anymore.
I will say I love the newer vehicles that fit into ARAH style and size though...

I grew up in the 80's and while I loved the figures as a kid and still have a few, the 80's are long gone and it's time to upgrade.
There's nothing wrong with still collecting ARAH figures, but do you still work on your Commodore 64? No. Why? Because there are better things out there.
I love the nostalgia of recalling the time when I held this figure as a child and the thrill of getting this for Christmas/birthday/whatever, but they haven't been produced for 20 years.
For me, the 80's figures were cool in the 80's. Now they are lesser versions of the kick ass figures I have now. In 20 years if better versions of what I have now come out, I'll collect those and give what I have now to my grand kids.

I know in my case, it's too expensive to collect vintage figures. And as much as it hurts to say it, in a lot of instances the newer stuff is better.

You know it's funny, My 10 year old Daughter wishes she could grow up in the 80's. She's always asking me about things from back then, LOVES Voltron, ARAH, G1 Transformers and 80's Arcade games. My daughter s AWESOME!
On to the main subject I am both ARAH and 25th myself, it just was easier to get 25th until recently.

I enjoyed many of the toys in the 80's. Those where the days before video games dominated a childs play.

I did go on a classic RAH bender awhile ago, it was expensive, I ended up with some awesome stuff and I was firmly and totally against collecting that 25th crap! I'd buy it for my nephews because lord knew it was better than CRAPS! figures.
Then I found four Cobra vipers for sale at K-Mart just a few weeks back and thought, "Wow, those seem cool, I guess they'd look neat on my entertainment center." Next thing you know the RAH figs are bagged and binned and I'm displaying all the 25th Goodness. Yeah, I'll say it the older figs were cool, but the new figs are cooler? Working holsters, better articulation (though in some cases worse), scabbards, details galore.
