I love me some curry, especially lamb vindaloo. Both Manchester and Concord near me have indian restaurants, Taste of India and India Palace respectively.

Some favorites of mine here in the Philippines that I've had recently from left to right:
1. Longsilog : popular meal of are Philippine chorizos (Longganisa) flavored with indigenous spices and served with garlic fried rice (Sinangag) and fried egg (Itlog), hence the name -- Long-Si-Log 2. Tapsilog: dried or cured beef or venison served with garlic fried rice (Sinangag) and fried egg (Itlog), hence the name -- Tap-Si-Log. Like the previous meal, this goes well with Atsara (pickled papaya strips) 3. Crispy Tadyang ng Baka: essentially beef-in-bone, boiled in a combination of bay leaf, pepper, and other spices, then deep-fried for crispness and layered with different chilis. It goes well with sweet vinegar & Atsara. 4. Crispy Tawilis: Tawilis is one of the many fish species dried, salted and sold as "daing" in the country. They are also smoked and bottled in oil, and sold commercially. Of note here is that the Tawilis are found only in a single lake on the island of Luzon in the Philippines -- Taal Lake, a large body of water in the province of Batangas that used to be the caldera of an ancient volcano. Before recent history, the lake was an extension of the entirely-marine Balayan Bay but a major eruption in the 16th century essentially sealed the lake from the sea, eventually leading to its waters becoming non-saline or freshwater. Tawilis is believed to be one of a few formerly-marine species trapped within the lake that have evolved into purely freshwater species. The version above is deep-fried in boiling oil and makes the whole fish edible, even with the bones inside. Perfect with garlic fried rice or alone with beer. 5. Balut: a fertilized duck egg with a nearly-developed embryo inside that is boiled and eaten in the shell. It is commonly sold as streetfood in the Philippines but have recently entered haute cuisine by being served as appetizers in restaurants. The version I had was de-shelled and cooked adobo-style and served on a hot sizzling plate. The dish is popularly believed to be an aphrodisiac and considered a high-protein, hearty snack but is very high in cholesterol. That's why I have it only rarely.

Here is mostly seafood, Dungeness Crab, Mussels, Oysters, Salmon, Halibut, Rock/Ling Cod. We also have the oldest china town in Canada. Some great restaurants there, I try to go to the authentic ones as much as possible. Overall I'm hooked on anything I've listed !!!

I'm curious about how it tastes, though. Is it like a cross between a hard-boiled egg and poultry? It's hard to tell just how developed the duck is having never seen this in person. |

Ribs.
Alabama is know for ribs. I have heard of three distinctive styles of ribs -- Texas, North Carolina, and Alabama -- varies due to preparation method and sauces. And because Dreamland is located so close to UA, it is often in the highlight reel for college football games. Dreamland BBQ - Home |
