So, I'm slowly making my way back to vintage collecting and considering giving up modern all together for the time being. But, it got me thinking about something. If I go back to only collecting vintage, am I still contributing to the Joe community as a whole? I mean yeah, I'll be buying and selling from other collectors. Hasbro doesn't get anything off my buying a vintage figure from another person though. Matter of fact, there are thousands and thousands of dollars changing hand out there all the time for vintage stuff.
But in the end, Hasbro isn't getting that money. So, do modern collectors look down upon vintage collectors? Are they the leeches that feed off the Joe brand but do nothing to keep it pushing forward? Or, are they looked at as like the old school fans that paved the way for new modern collectors? Just a thought that came to me while enjoying my nightly smoke. EDIT: I'm not asking for myself. I'm not really one of the "old school" guys. I came in at like 1990 collecting Joes. Heck, I didn't even keep my original collection past my teen years. Last edited by JohnnyAngel77; 08-09-2009 at 02:28 AM.. |

I have some vintage stuff for sale.
Buy it, and then I will go buy RoC toys. Hasbro wins. |
