'82 Snake Eyes. My brother convinced me to get it instead of a bag of oversized green Army men.

San Antonio always got everything WAY late, so I was staying with my Grandma in Houston for a week and she got me Short Fuze, Snake Eyes and Stalker all at once! They were cool but I didn't get really excited until Cobra showed up. A toy line without villains? Meh.

Either Bazooka or Alpine. Whichever wasn't was 2nd. Still have both, even when others fell victim to rough play

Straight Arm Flash and Short-Fuze at my local TRUs right next to Disneyland in 1982.

The earliest one I can remember is Sergeant Slaughter.
I was born in 82 so I missed a lot of the early figures. |

Charbroil as a present for my 5th birthday, but despite the card, at that age I didn’t understand that there were more.
Found ‘89 Stalker at a drug store in early 90, bought him, loved him. Got Crazylegs and Spearhead & Max at random points later in 1990, then picked out ‘89 Snake Eyes and Recoil as my next handpicked Joes for my 6th birthday in Sept of 1990. That’s really the point I became a die-hard, having already collected the Turtles and coming to see Snake Eyes and the Joes as a more real world version of the same idea. Unfortunately it wasn’t till the following summer I found out there was a comic. First issue was Counting Coup, which I think is issue116. It’s the stealth recce mission by ol’ what’s-is-name over Benzheen at the end of that storyline. Last edited by books; 06-03-2020 at 02:04 AM.. |

In 1987, I was 10, the 85 line was released in the UK. I think Flint and Lady Jaye were my first figures. That Christmas I got the Awe Striker, Silver Mirage, Dragonfly and a load of figures. I also started reading Action Force weekly starring Flint and the rest of the 85 Joes.

huh, you're a year older than me, Steve. I was 9 that year and got Snake Eyes (twice), two Cobra troopers, Airtight and a Crimson Guard and I think I got the Air Defence for that Christmas. I got the Dragonfly for my birthday the following March. I think I got the FANG that birthday too. I got Serpentor, the Rattler and the Skystriker and the VHS of Arise, Serpentor Arise for Christmas '88.
