I've been a fan of most of the movie toys up to this point. I have most single carded figs and the Pit (which is awesome). They're loaded with accessories and they really demonstrate the lessons learned from the 25th line.
I've shied away from the rest of the vehicles mainly because of cost. I definitely don't have the "have to have everything except for deep six" fever that i had with the 25th line. Not all figures are must haves, but I'll still be happy to buy most of them. I wish for nothing but success for the future of the joe franchise. |

as far as product goes, if it's not in some way shape or form related to a classic Joe, then i have no interest in it...Monkeywrench, Heavy Metal, Thunder, yes please...Neo-Viper, Lava-Viper, RoC CC, no thank you...
as far as the movie goes...i'm not excited honestly...2yrs ago, yes, i was geeked out of my mind, but every new tid bit of news slowly changed that to the point where i really could care less about the movie...no joke...when i heard there was to be a Joe movie, i was in heaven, i had dreamed of this day for years and years, to bring what i loved, with a SLIGHT update and toned down colors, to the big screen...sigh... i grew out of Joe in the early 90's, girls, music, and cars took over...i graduated, got a job, met a girl(s)...got married, bought a house...ya know, life happened... then one day i stumbled across the 5 packs and my collecting of Joes began a new...nostalgia kicked in and i never looked back...until about a month ago...i have ZERO need to pick up a new toy line that speaks to me with no emotional connection... |

I am not anymore for it no more than I am against it. It will have it chance to really get my buy in a few weeks time if I am motivated enough to actually get off my collecitve ass and go watch it. My hopes have been totally diminished and erradticated as to it remotley being GI JOE so a good movie it may be just as joe blow generic james bond/Power rangers remake. Going in with the mindset I had with Bruno...just another jackass comedy movie to see on a bigger screen then I have at home. Maybe get a laugh watching Wayanes getting run over by a car and then seeing Duke headbutt Destro and might get a bone here and there trying to pawn it off as GI JOE and I can laugh at that. Then once I leave the theatre it will be done, the storm rolls on and we get re-alligned for Resolute later next year and the new Cartoon on the Hasbro Network. Hopefully ROC will be a good learning envirionment with what they are doing wrong, especailly with some of the new figures they are trying to shovel us.
Time will once again tell. For now I am in the camp of going to see it but have lost all hope of regaining the glory that was once GI JOE.

I loved the 80's cartoon and all, but if this movie wasn't done this way to modernize, GIJoe would be more of a GIJoke in the way people would view us collectors. I mean seriously, you really want the cheesy cobra commander and dorky plots to be presented to people as a live action movie. It works as a cartoon, but live-action has to be cool with $4!† blowing up everywhere like they are doing it, not a comedy. thats just my opinion. As for the toys, you'll just have to get better at customizing, if you want to see the original characters again.

I've made peace with certain ROC toys and designate them
'Resolute Friendly' or '25th Friendly' or (in last place) 'ROC exceptions.' that's where I stand with the toys. with the movie ... the latest trailers make it seem like itz a comfortable film to watch... not sure if I'll enjoy it... Snake Eyes seems too animated (no pun intended)... he seems very... hyper. I haven't seen a scene where he's just standing there (like Snake Eyes) so we'll see. Overall I want to see this for the parts we haven't seen. I think what we've seen (for some people on this board) has made it a questionable watch. The only thing left to redeem it is the stuff we haven't seen. And I think in the end ...those things we haven't been privy to.. are the things that will also make people who are excited about it... either like it more than they thought, or put them on the other side of the fence with those that are less than pleased with what they've seen so far.

i am a hater of roc all of the true roc. if its 25th/me/res figs that look good ill get them as i need my plastic crack fix. Over all i would rather see the line die then to keep on the roc track.
Resolute was the best of both worlds. old school look with a cool update to them. Quote:

I don't really like what I'm seeing as far as the movie, besides Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow kicking all kinds of ass. The toys I dig, as I have 45 figs and 6 vehicles. I do miss the 25th stuff cuz it was better in my opinion. With that out the way, I will be supporting the G.I.Joe movie when it opens. With that in mind, its now wether I go once to see it, or twice. Thats is the question for myself. I'm just glad we're getting a G.I.Joe movie. Bottom line is, I am a G.I.Joe head, so I'll be there opening week. Yo F'n Joe!

I like the Sgt. Stone figure, the night raven, the Pit, and that Cobra Hummer vehicle. If I see anything from the toy line, I'll pick it up.

There is some really great exciting stuff coming out.
It's actually pretty refreshing to not have that "buy it all" compulsion. Although, with the volume of toys, the amount of fun stuff is comparable to what was available for 25th at any given time. |
