The Joe's could never beat Cobra, if Cobra had the proper leadership. Regular military had no chance, so an elite force was called in.
Cobra Commander is the only reason Cobra lost most of its battle. Last edited by Drunken Whaler; 03-30-2020 at 03:46 AM.. |

What makes you think Serpentor would even do a better job than Cobra Commander or Destro?
Destro pretty much too involved with Baronness |

Cobra loses most battles because they werent 1) As skilled as the Joe team 2) not fanatical enough for their causes, which is why they were so prone to retreating 3) Have less resources than a govt backed special ops team Thats my 2 cents. lol |

Joe's have what, a few hundred members. I just feel like the Commander is using a sledge hammer as a nut cracker. |

Destro has the best chance of leading victory over Joes than anyone. Hell warlord kicked some joe áss on several occasions.

the regular military could curb-stomp the Cobras if they had authorisation, they could just carpet-bomb the snot outta Cobra Island if they didn't just nuke it.

Any terrorist group today would have beat the snot out of GI Joe. As a serious group (minus them being a cartoon of course) GI Joe was a joke.

The U.S. military was exhausted by 1973, and could not possibly equal the power of our Soviet rival by 1975, but in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s the U.S. armed forces went through an amazing transformation. Something remarkable was about to happen in the U.S.A. with all five branches of the armed forces simultaneously, and Hasbro’s G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero brand was marching at the head of the parade as it happened. In 1982, G.I. Joe had some fanciful elements introduced to it, such as the J.U.M.P., H.A.L., and laser rifle packs to hint that some improvements were on the horizon for the U.S. military. While intended as fantasy, it wasn't far from the truth. Grenada, Panama, and the Gulf War would soon pull back the curtain to reveal a U.S. military the world didn't recognize. Unique changes were happening concerning special warfare programs in all of the service branches. The first few years of G.I. Joe ARAH (1982-85) was just a simplistic realization of what was beginning to be implemented. By the late 80’s to early 90’s, there was nothing that could compare in military power, although some leadership challenges needed to be worked out, and they quickly were. Even if the G.I. Joe team had been deactivated in 1994, as the comics suggested, that would have been okay, because by then the conventional forces could have defeated COBRA in a week. By the turn of the century, the US military could defeat all of COBRA in 48-72 hrs. History has a way of repeating itself, and like the exhaustion mentioned in 1973, the U.S. military was depleted and nearly broken over a painful period from 2009 until 2017. I would have never believe it if I hadn’t witnessed it myself, but in just under a year, the U.S. military came roaring back to full strength by 2018, and then kept going. It had reached what some will probably consider to be ludicrous levels of power from 2018-2020, and shows no sign of slowing yet. It’s an exciting time period for the armed forces… So that brings us up to the present. Even with the best of leadership for COBRA, the U.S. armed forces in the year 2020 could completely wipe COBRA and the Iron Grenadiers from the face of the earth in 12 - 18 hrs. guaranteed.

The time period being referenced is the most important consideration for this topic concerning "regular military" having no chance.

I'll debate that topic later, just woke from a nap still a wee fuzzy. But I will say with the money from Extensive Enterprises, and top of the line tech from M.A.R.S, Cobra would curb stomp the fictional forces of the Joe's.
Using the logic of real world forces against a non existant organization is hard to argue against. |
