What food is your little corner of the world known for?
Here in Cincinnati, there are two that out-of-towners always question: Cincinnati Chili and goetta. Cincy chili is not a Texas-style chili. It is thinner, the meat is cooked differently, and includes ingredients such as allspice, cinnamon, chocolate and Worcestershire. It is great on hotdogs topped with cheese, on spaghetti, or even just by itself with oyster crackers. There are hundreds of chili parlors in the area, and you can get into a heated debate about which chain is the best. For me, it Gold Star all the way! Goetta originated as German peasant food and contains pork, beef, pin oats, and seasonings. And when fried just right is pure heaven on your plate! YUM! Let's see what kind of gastronomical goodness the rest of you enjoy. Don't forget the pictures! |

Fort Wayne, IN doesn't have much of unique culinary identity; we have all different kinds of food, and much of it is done well, but I love traveling around and eating the local food! I have been lucky enough to have Cincy chili and dogs and pasties in Mich

Ribs.
Alabama is know for ribs. I have heard of three distinctive styles of ribs -- Texas, North Carolina, and Alabama -- varies due to preparation method and sauces. And because Dreamland is located so close to UA, it is often in the highlight reel for college football games. Dreamland BBQ - Home

Hey Python, what about Skyline Chili? A good friend of mine, originally from Cincinnati claims they are the best.
As for good food around here in Chicago, well..... ITALIAN BEEF DEEP DISH PIZZA Chicago Style Hot Dog (I love this diagram I just found) And now for my absolute favorite Chicago food (which is one not too many people know about)... THE ITALIAN BREADED STEAK SANDWICH! And the place to go for that? Breaded Steaks - Pizza - Sicilian Beef And More - Ricobene's on 26th Street

Man, I want one of those steak sandwiches now. Holy crap that looks awesome!
Skyline Chili is probably the #1 chain around here with Gold Star #2. Skyline is a little spicier than Gold Star and I'm not a big fan of spice, but they are all good in their own way. |

its tough to say exactly what eould be considered truly canadian and moreso truly a vancouver staple or delicacy, I would have to say hot wings and a pint of kokanee or canadian, yam fries seem to be popular as well as sliders which are mini burgers these also seem to be very popular.
