Hello all the other day I was going through one of my vehicle bins and I found that the missile rack from the rear section of my thunder clap had gotten broken. I had just bought it from eBay maybe last year in complete condition. So naturally I was irritated not knowing how it got broken. I've tried gluing it with super glue and gorilla glue separately. Both attempts the glue just pealed off. Its like this thing is made out of Teflon. has anyone had any experiences like this and know if there is a type of glue that works best.

Can you post a picture of the break?
Two other options that sometimes work (depending on location, type of plastic etc.): EMA Plastic Weld and Milliput. |

I've had that piece break myself. Tried a bunch of different glues, but nothing took. Have you tried Methyl Ethyl Ketone? I ended up just searching ebay for another one.

I always use Loctite. It is pretty strong stuff and never leaves a white residue.

Right now I just trimmed a sewing needle and pushed that in to the two parts. I know its a small part and probably easier to just find the part on ebay. Its more about just bonding this type of plastic. My some had a PJ mask play set he broke. The part he Broke was very similar plastic. No mater what epoxy I used it all just peeled off.
How would I use the Methyl Ethyl Ketone?

The needle was a good way to go. You probably wanted to do something like that regardless of which glue you used. I'd probably try drilling small holes in each part (pin vice) and gluing in a plastic pin (Toy Polloi likes Lego aerials etc. for this). You'd want a glue that melts and bonds the surface of the plastic so that the pin is nicely secured in there, and also what little contact point there is between the two parts is also welded together. EMA Plastic Weld may work but I can't say for certain. |

I ended up sanding the surface of the plastic all over the place. putting in another needle for added support and encasing most of the Broken area in super glue. it looks like its going to hold this time.
