What’s up tankers?! I’ve been working for a couple years now on creating a tabletop game for my Joe and Marauder figures. I beta-tested the game and it failed miserably. But out of that disaster, I was able to design a Zombie vs Joes (Humans) game that I played and had a lot of fun. Now I want to share it with you and see what you think. Try the game out, give me some feedback, and feel free to ask any questions. Below are the Rules and Instructions for the game but if anyone has a more comprehensive way of delivering the information please let me know.
Hopefully you have fun with this and post any pictures of your gameplay * Check post #2 for some gameplay pictures I took when I tested it. *ZOMBIE vs JOE TABLETOP GAME * Items Needed -Buildings, Fences, Vehicles, etc. or an innovative mind and some cardboard boxes. -Any number of figures for both sides. The difficulty changes here based on how you stack the sides. -Weapons: any number of weapons will work. User decides and prepares Human(s) prior to start of game. -A minimum of one d12 and one d20 -Time depending on how large or small you make the game. (I beta tested 5 Humans vs 13 Zombies and it took roughly 150 minutes). * Game Overview *Humans - survive by defeating all zombie and ending the outbreak *Zombies - win by infecting all humans * Basic Rules - No min or max of users as long as they have a figure on the board and one person may control as many pieces they choose. - Humans cannot shoot Zombies until they breach the perimeter. - Humans cannot leave perimeter at any time and Zombies cannot leave perimeter once they have breached (subject to change based on personal set-up or multiple perimeters). - All pieces have one Action per turn, which can be MOVEMENT, ATTACK, or FORFEIT TURN. (Note-Zombies that MOVE within 1” of human are exempt of this rule and are granted an immediate ATTACK) * Game Set-Up -Place buildings, fences, vehicles, etc. in any order that creates a perimeter. Then place Humans anywhere inside the perimeter it’s user chooses. Then place Zombies around the perimeter positioned based on it’s user. -Roll d20 to see which side goes first. More advanced users may roll a d20 for each character an determine an exact order but this may become confusing when using multiples of the same figure(s). * Action Phase for Humans -User establishes one of the three options (MOVEMENT, ATTACK, or FORFEIT TURN) first. -For MOVEMENT, Humans roll a d20 and may move figure that number of inches. -For ATTACK, Humans with guns must be within 24” of target. Humans with melee weapons must be within 2” of target. Once an approved distance is determined, roll a d12 for damage to zombie. “Critical” hits are the only thing that can kill them and “critical” hit number are based on the number of zombies in attack area. (Attack area is 5” around targeted Zombie). For example: one zombie, critical hit = a roll of 10, 11, or 12. two zombies, critical hit = a roll of 11 or 12. And three or more zombies, the only critical hit is a roll of 12. *Note: humans with guns may take two attacks to one or two targets but humans using melee only have one strike. If a Human uses a melee weapon, all “critical” damage values for Zombies decrease by one. -For FORFEIT TURN, human doesn’t roll and their turn is now passed to the next person that follows the determined order. * Action Phase for Zombies -For MOVEMENT, Zombies roll a d12 and may move up to the amount rolled in inches. -For ATTACK, Zombies must be within 1” of Human to initiate Attack. Once in range, Zombies roll a d12. Any number 9 or greater is a bite and makes the Human infected. (Beta tested this with 7 or higher and the Zombies destroyed the Humans) *Note - If a zombie gets within 1” of human on MOVEMENT phase, they are granted an immediate ATTACK. -For FORFEIT TURN, Zombies don’t have this option because they don’t think logically. * Infected Humans -Okay so you’ve just been bitten and you’re probably thinking “shit, I’m going to die” and yes, yes you are. But you have two turns before you become fully transformed into a Zombie. -At this time, Infected Humans may use Action roles as if they were un-infected. -After two turns, they are immediately transformed into a Zombie and are treated like a Zombie for the remainder of the game. Their opponents are now the surviving Humans. * Additional Actions -These are actions that take place of MOVEMENT based on the environment set-up. This can include but is not limited to Knocking Down Structures, Going Up or Downstairs , and Jumping from multiple story buildings/structures. -Knocking Down Structures: Zombies roll d12, to knock down a structure, one zombie must roll 12. The number decreases one for each zombie within 5”. Example: Four zombies trying to break a fence need to roll an 9 or greater on a d12. This could be used the same way for Humans if needed. -Moving Up or Downstairs: Humans must half their d20 roll. If a 1 is rolled, the human cannot move. Same rules apply to Zombies but they roll a d12 -Jumping From Multiple Story Building/Structure: Humans roll d20, if it’s a 11 or greater they may jump but forfeit their next turn unless they roll 19 or 20; they may also move the number of inches rolled. Zombies, may jump from high buildings/structures with any number roll but they still forfeit their next turn. * Extras (not sure what to call this) -Gunshots draw zombies toward location (does not work on zombies that have human(s) in line of sight within 20”. Example: If a zombie is in close proximity to human and the human is in a direct line of sight of the zombie, the zombie will not be distracted by gun fire and it can pursue either target. -Entrance blocked by Zombies: you’re trapped, better fight your way out. * Future Ideas -Incorporating more Actions into gameplay (Medics that HEAL, Intel that gives MOVEMENT X2, and other Special Abilities) -Guns only having predetermined amount of rounds that can be fired -Weapon caches/crates where weapons can be equipped.

Dude, that's an awesome concept. As an added bonus, it would put some use to all of the hackjob structures I've built that didn't make the cut. Brilliant, and I'm going to try it out!

Yeah you do make a lot of structures and I bet you could make an awesome set up. Hopefully you have some fun with it. I tried 5 Joes vs 13 Zombies and the zombies crushed. The Joes did manage to take out 8 but after the bitten Joes start transforming, it becomes crazy. Take a look at the pictures I took in the second post and see what you can come up with. Post your stuff too. I can’t wait to see how it goes!

A fantastic way of getting some action out of the Joes that just in the storage bins and display shelves. Now I'm going to have to come up with some building playsets so I can play.

Thanks Duke. I wonder if the images won’t load because of how many pictures I added (20+). How long did you let the pictures try to load? Is this a problem for anyone else?

Yep, that was my feelings too. My figures always sit on shelves or in bin and my old age doesn’t allow me to play with them anymore without some type of direction. Hope you saved your Christmas boxes so you can start creating some buildings. Can’t wait to see how it goes for you.
