So the "fanrage" over Footloose, Law and Repeater got me thinking...
Most of the old/vintage ARAH guys went thru multiple uniform changes thru the years. So why is it a big deal when the character gets another new uniform added to the mix? Law had the original vintage colors, then got a complete make-over for Battlecorps and then his last made figure had gray tones. Now he's got a desert camo look coming out. So why was it okay then to change uniforms but it's not now? I'm trying to understand the logic here. The only thing I can come up with is that it's because they didn't release vintage colors in the new 25th/ME style of figure. But nothing says they needed to or have to. It's just fan desire that wants the original colors in the new style of figure. But really, how many different uniforms did Snake-Eyes go thru over the years? I think he's up to 40+ versions. Same with Cobra Commander, Storm Shadow, Duke, Hawk (who went thru multiple name changes from Hawk to Gen. Hawk to Tomahawk to Gen. Abernathy to Gen. Tomahawk and then G.I. Joe Hawk) and alot of others. So why can't Hasbro make uniform changes now? I'm not talking about actually liking them, or the sex/race changed characters. I'm just talking about continuing the tradition of providing the same character in a new uniform. Is it really that wrong? Especially where Hasbro is doing everything in the new movie universe. They're going for a unified look, so it makes sense that characters would have no and updated uniforms. It's just that people feel the need to have them all in vintage colors. It would be nice, for nostalgia sake, but for the growth of the line? Everyone here knows if they started making up new character names, then the old school fans would be up in arms over them not using the old school characters. "Why didn't they use Law for the new MP??" You know as well as I do that it would have happened. I can see why Hasbro wants to use the existing names, they already own them, so why can't they use the old characters in the movie line with new looks? Why can't people just accept it and move on? Why is it that big a deal that Law doesn't come in vintage colors?

I don't mind new uniforms, but I'd also like the classic. Hell, I'd buy a two pack of figures if one was classic and one was new.

I should clarify my two pack thing...
Classic version of Character X and New Uniform version of Character X... 2 of same character... I also just don't like the logo from the movie. |

Then & Now figure packs would be a great idea.

I'm with you, it's not the end of the world. I'd rather they update classic characters than create new ones. The new Flash is a good example of this, looks perfect IMO.

I got into joes when the 25th line came out so for me
The only reason i even collect joes was because i seen all the old guys in there Original uniforms made into the modern era and that made me collect so id like for them to continue giving us those versions but i cant stop em so all i can do is play ball and except the fact that they changed em up for me i just always pictured having all the version 1s of the characters in the line up, but i guess like the others ill buy these repaints and if they release them later in the right colors ill get those as well so Hasbro wins twice And lets not forget that they give a million repaints of certain figures so why not give us the OG paint schemes and then do the same figure in the colors for the movie ? is that really hard to do for the characters that were not made in the 25th line like Footloose or law n order ? then wed all be happy

Seems like kind of an easy answer, isn't it? The ARAH figures got multiple looks, so I'd be ecstatic if Hasbro was going to release multiple versions of every character with the new articulation. But I'm fairly sure one is the most we're going to get for a lot of the less popular characters. So for a large number of people the preference is that the classic/iconic/vintage look is the one we get.

You now what? Give me the classic version of the character first, or at least let me know I will indeed have it someday, then Hasbro can go and do whatever they like with anyone. Make Footloose a ten foot tall green lesbian chimpanzee with seven arms and twelve eyes. I really don't care. But it would be nice to have a modern version of the classic look, first. I want the characters I grew up with and loved...after that Hasbro can screw up characters as much as they want.
