But when you go into the later years, I think you'd see a lot less complaining about re-vamping of the neon characters into something more realistic. In fact, you'd probably have more support than not as long as the basic elements were there. Look at Charbroil - basic elements are there with modifications, and he's going over pretty well. |

Personally, I think low-lights would stand up well in modern military and in ROC style with few to no changes.

As for the neon paint jobs of the early 90's, I completely agree with you. There's a lot of characters who had great qualifications who could be great if they had updated uniforms - Rapid Fire and Super Trooper come immediately to mind. Topside could be updated/revamped. Sci-Fi is an old favorite, but would anyone really mind if Hasbro updated him to look more like his Version 2 uniform, rather than his Version 1 uniform? If they updated Low-Light using his v2 outfit, I think that could work really well.

Actually, for Super Trooper and Rapid Fire a lot of the accessories from PIT Commando would work really well. If they did a figure with the jungle camo from Heavy Duty, and gave him a shield and an assault vest, it could work well for an updated Super Trooper.
There has been a lot of talk by guys who don't want to troop build the Pit Commando, and want to use him as Rapid Fire... personally, I think that makes a lot of sense.

I remember the old ARAH toys - my favorite Duke was the Desert Camo version from around '91. It was a great figure: very realistic, looked good, good accessories. So if an ARAH repaint was better than its predecessors, why can't we continue to update for improvements? Have you seen the new Desert Duke? He's awesome.
