Question of curiosity: Could they or will they ever be able to release the original Dial-Tone, now that they made him a woman?
I ask because we got Altitude in the 7-pack, who we all know is vintage Rip Cord, but they chose to change the name, probably because we have the black ROC Rip Cord and no one wants to see children go crosseyed. So these arbitrary character changes seem like they might prevent Hasbro from releasing some of the original versions, at least in the near future. Edit: However, I did notice that female Dial-Tone is Jill Morelli, a tribute to the male Dial-Tone, just like they did with the female Doc, Carla Greer, so maybe Papa Dial-Tone will arrive on the scene. Oh, and the strangest thing of all. It appears, but not fully confirmed, that the Hit N Run that's coming with the new LAW is silver Grand Slam. They just made Hit N Run, so why didn't they use that figure or repaint it or just call the present figure Grand Slam. It's just completely bizarre.

Altitude" and give us a figure that's clearly supposed to be Dial-Tone but give him another name (Hi-Tech or Hard Drive, perhaps?) |

It's entirely possible.
Hell, I'd love to see that two-pack... Then and Now with a male and female Dial Tone. For the lulz. At worst it'll be Altitude style renaming, which still results in us getting the redone character.

Oh well. At least the mold is available in those colors again [he wasn't entirely easy to find the first time, i think?] for those who need it. That's a nice mold, though, I'd like to see more color pairings for it.

I have no problem with people being disappointed that ARAH is going the wayside, it's just when they present illogical arguements and think it's gospel or just refuse to listen to logic.
Hasbro has a proven record with their toylines and movies: Star Wars and Transformers being the examples. Why wouldn't they follow the same model for Joe that they do for those? To think otherwise is allowing your intelligent to be questioned. Patience is called for. No one, not even Hasbro, has said that classic looks won't ever be back, so just sit back and relax. Take a deep breath and cut the emotional cords. I mean, some people just take it way too seriously. I really wish people would stop comparing Mattel and the MOTU with Hasbro and Joe. They are two completely different things. I refuse to pay that much for a single figure. Especially one that has so many reused parts. MOTU is not meant to be a huge seller. It is a collector's only line at this point. They aren't hoping to snag shelf space or anything. It's meant for collectors and collectors only. Joe faded from the mainstream eye, that's why it needed something like the movie to get attention back. Star Wars, even the classic characters, has never once faded. I remember back in the early 90s playing a computer game based on the classic SW continuity. This was well before the original movies made it back to theatres and before the newer movies.

Patience is absolutely called for. Remember, this new modern line has only been around for about 2 years and look how many figures have been produced thus far. Give it some time. The focus right now will be on the movie. I'm willing to bet that there will be more classics coming to the line.
And if they want to throw some new versions of existing characters in there, I say let them. I wouldn't mind some more arctic versions of core characters. Or desert versions etc... Just try to relax. I went through this when Star Wars Episode I came out and everybody was so worried that there would be no more original trilogy figures made. (there have been more. Hundreds more) Quote:

Wow, this thread has gotten pretty heated. I guess everybody is entitled to their opinion. I mean, it's neat to see classic toys from my childhood remade with modern improvements, but I'm much happier with ROC Shipwreck than I was with 25th Shipwreck... and if they did update Low-Light, the original uniform could probably use a bit of an overhaul... same with Super Trooper and Rapid Fire and Grid Iron. I'm just saying.
Here's my theory: If a fan doesn't like a figure that Hasbro makes, that fan should not buy that figure. If other fans like the new figure, great for those fans. Here's a novel idea: only buy the toys you like, and leave the ones you don't for other fans. Just my opinion.
