As a kid (And adult) I regularly switched Joes to other nationalities to make them more international. I never put the Flag stickers on vehicles, keeping only the "GI Joe" branding. Once we got the POC logos, I bought a bunch of those off of Toyhax and put them on all my vehicles.
Wanting the army toys to be American primarily is very American.

A Real International Hero just doesn't sound right and it loses the patriotism ARAH has. I never took issue with the ARAH tag line and as a Canadian we had some of the file cards list characters as Canadian and most of the vehicles had the option to use the Canadian flag instead of the US flag. It just seemed natural to me as a kid to have Canadians in an American anti-terrorist unit. Weirdly, all the American patriotism that oozed out of GI Joe made me very patriotic about Canada and it kinda felt like an older, reckless brother watching out for me.
I feel that making the team international was one of the downfalls of ROC. I don't want A Real United Nations Hero.

And while thats a perfectly valid way to think, its also very American. i wont speak for otehr international members, but I know that Iam just sort of used to an America-centric view to our media and pop culture. Australia is actually a pretty 3 way tie with America, British and Chinese cultures mixed together fairly evenly.
Hey it never stopped me buying GI Joe, and there are characters I would NEVER consider anything but American (The majority in fact), but changing the name wouldn't hurt the licence outside of the states, I assure you.
