I never had v2 as a kid. I had v1, but his thumbs were broke quite early one. I think he got relagated to driving the RAM motorcycle most of the time. Sad days to grow up in...

Yeah I was just watching Revenge of Cobra on break and work and the math started hitting me. 1984 was when the episodes aired but was a good year ahead of visor Snake Eyes (and the Dreadnoks), which played a prominent role in the ROC mini-series. Baroness, Storm Shadow, Firefly and Zartan would have been new on the shelves around that time.
And, of course, 1984 was when #21 (Silent Interlude) debuted, and Snake Eyes had the goggles for, in my opinion, the best issues of Joe. |

Umm...I didn't have either as a kid. My first Snake Eyes was the 2004 comic pack release. Then the second.
Not that I wasn't a fan of the character, loved him in the comic and cartoon. I only had 6 Joes and lots of Cobras. I turned out ok and still have most of my appendages... |

Snake Eyes v2 was one of the coolest figures that came out and he wasn't easy to find and it seemed like everyone wanted him. I remember looking for him on the shelves and never had any luck finding him but then on my birthday, my father took me and my big brother to Toys R Us and he let us pick out two GI Joe figures each. As we searched the pegs, which were filled with joes, (Oh how I miss those days...) my brother found Snake Eyes v2. I searched every peg hoping to get one too but there wasn't any more. I was quite disappointed but I ended up getting the Crimson Twins 2 pack and my brother got Snake Eyes v2 and Firefly. My big brother being the great guy that he is, let me play with SE and he later gave him to me when he was no longer interested in joes. I played with him long after both his thumbs broke off...

I Honestly don't remember how I got him, he was like an gift from above lol
I remember when playng with my friends Snake Eyes didnt go on a lot of missions cause no one could agree on who could play with him so he would miss out. But when I played alone he was the main man most of the time. |

I went to a brand new TRU on the morning of its second day of operation at some point in '85. Only 1 V2 SE and 2 V1 SS were left on the massively packed newly stocked shelves. I grabbed one of each and passed the second SS to a disappointing kid who missed out on a SE.
Having those two figures was epic! You didn't really need much else :p Of course since POTF2 came out, TRU (and other toys stores) employees have all been scalpers and hoarders so the above would never have happened. Kids, dreams, crushed. I'm looking at your RetroBlasting- you know you are guilty, dead guilty. E tu, Joefan82? Or maybe it was Michael Mercy? One of the two confessed to formerly being a TRU employee, you know, just so they could get the toys...

As a Nintendo guy, it reminds me of some guy I saw on yt(?) a few years back, buying every copy of Earthbound he could find, because as he put it, he "collects complete copies of Earthbound". Sure man. I wasn't impressed, I was downright offended.

I broke the lower arm off of my straight arm Stalker when I was young. I loved Stalker so much that I'd make a cast out of sting and toilet paper to stick the broken arm back on and have him fight with one arm. We didn't have the money to get replacements. If I broke a Joe he stayed broke.
