My complaint is that I don't want to read threads that use the word "you" in their title when the word that obviously should be used is "your".

To play devil's advocate for a moment, I think that there may be a base sense or feeling that whatever the current incarnation is, will be what GI Joe will be from now on. So for the collectors that want it to be the 80's all over again with the 25th (or just want updated versions of their classic figures) seeing the movie toys may be akin to someone taking all hope away from these collectors.
I'm sure they feel that there is so much more they could have gotten that won't be made any more because there's this movie line. Also some collectors feel a very strong connection to this toy brand and the look of the movie is completely different but uses all the same names, so there again, hope that they'll see their favorite character in an appearance that they like is ripped away from them. This has happened to fandoms for years and sometimes the fans warm up to it after time, other times, they just hate it for all time. Beast Wars and Beast Machines are prime (excuse the pun) examples of this with the Transformers community. Beast Wars was reviled when it first came out, now over half the community loves it, Beast Machines didn't fair as well though. Anyway, back to the original question, there are fans who are outraged (possibly due to their hope for something they wanted being taken away) at the direction GI Joe is going right now and they feel the need to vent. Possibly just to get the anger out of their system so they'll feel beter, or possibly to find like minded individuals so they don't feel alone in their hate |

[QUOTE=GI FLINT;874977]why does the poster of something positive think anyone wants to read their opinion?
I agree with that point. Because you want to come on a message board and promote something because you and certain people think it's awesome, what makes you think I or anyone else cares? We post to find like minded individuals, who may share our passion for the same things. I believe if this upsets the ROC lovers so much we should have separate threads, ones who love all things ROC and ones who don't very much like it. One thing that's been bothering me lately is that there are certain supporters of the ROC line and film and feel the need to make 3 threads a day promoting it. Then when someone posts something negative in their thread all hell breaks loose. Personally if something on here is boring, irrelevant, or has just been beaten to death, I don't comment, it's a prevailing reason I've been a member so long and have a relatively low post count. There's one other thing that is eating me, I have to get this off my chest, all the ROC toys supporterss I believe will be selling these things in opened lots on EBAY next summer. My question is, If you love them so much why would you ever sell them? They're so EPIC Win and FTW and owenage and what ever other expressions you guys use to describe them, they should then be priceless then . . . no? As Holden McNeil once said, "The Internet has given everybody in America a voice. For some reason, everybody decides to use that voice to bitch about movies."

You have put into words exactly how I feel. Although I try not to write things on here that people would consider nasty or rude. Again, very well said. |
