Reinvented? No. Updated? Yes.
The uniforms could definitely be updated to fit pretty close to what the military is using now but still look recognizable from the ARAH era. I just don't like it when they use all black uniforms for everyone. The characters in GI Joe have their own uniforms that set them apart from everyone else and it gave each character personality. |

For GI Joe, I would like to see more standardization in the informs aligning with actual military uniforms.
For Cobra, I think that staying true to the blue is best to avoid anything politically incorrect or culturally insensitive.

I must agree that the Black and Red/Crimson are hard to troopbuild and display to my liking. Lets just rock the Cobra Blue....

I still enjoy the standard military green color for the Greenshirts and earlier Joes like Zap, Steeler, Rock n Roll and the Cobra blues for the the Cobra Troopers and Officers. I always looked at the more colorful characters as one person being from that particular branch was picked and chosen to join the GI Joe ranks. For instance, I imagined that the Infantry group that specializes in Desert Warfare all dressed like Dusty, it's just that only Ronald W. Tadur was picked to bring his Desert Warfare knowledge to GI Joe. I also imagined that there's a squad of Radio Communications officers that all wear the same outfits as Dial Tone, it's just that Jack S. Morelli was picked from his group to bring his Radio Communications knowledge to GI Joe.
Do you mean, Why is there so much obsession in hating the black leather suits? Or, do you mean, Why do the movie studios have this obsession with using black leather suits? |

For figures, they have to have their own distinct look to have a wider range of appeal. There are those that prefer a realistic military look, but let’s be honest - the ARAH line had very few designs that were passable for military attire. And that’s what’s so great about it, and why it still resounds so loudly for those of us in the fandom. Now, with that being said - even as a kid, I’d wished for a variety of environmental-specific “outfits” for most characters, such as diving suits, arctic coats, desert and jungle camo in addition to their casual uniforms. Like, Quick Kick looks out of place on any mission
