No contest, of course it's Hawk. Why would this question even need to be asked?

I'm just trying to see if anyone thinks otherwise. I suppose the better question would be who should be the XO?
Courage? Surefire Keel-Haul Claymore? Payload Rey? Storm? |

Oliver, I know it's probably not how you meant it, but for some reason the idea of Hawk and Duke acting like an old married couple is hilarious.

As a big Duke fan, it's easy for me to say.....General Hawk.
Duke might be my favorite character, but Hawk should always be in charge. (See my username, lol.) I consider Duke to be the one to take charge as a leader during a mission, but Hawk is back at base issue orders. Duke just makes the decisions that need to be made on the spot. It's like an Emperor/Darth Vader relationship, but....not evil.

The Second General Flagg. He seems intelligent, professional, and a great strategist. If not the XO, he would be the obvious choice for an S-3 (Operations Officer).

I always imagined it as a little "Fred & Barney" ;)

Funny thing about Hawk is that his first file card doesn't make him that qualified.
He's an Artillery & Radar Officer. Are cannons the primary weapon to combat global Terrorism? Duke got all the Special Forces experience. Same goes for Flint. The two of them really run the show. |

Hawk has always been my Joe leader... especially since I read the comics from day one. I didn't have a Hawk figure though until the General version came out, so I used Short Fuse as Hawk.
