Metal Gear Solid's almost as dead as G.I. Joe so I'm not convinced that's the way to go.

My idea is to just use that one IDW one-shot book where Cobra won as a starting point.

Animesque? Check.
Avoids dealing with "real" military themes? Check.
Can be easily adapted to the broad resistance zeitgeist? Check.
Absurdist humor that's all the rage? Check.

I have said it before, I don’t think G.I. Joe should have its own game, rather, it have a crossover with fortnite. Fortnite already has many Joe inspired skins (heck, the guy who designed the figures said he was directly inspired by G.I. Joe) and it has a huge player base. It would be a win win for both Hasbro and epic games. However, I think a show like renegades would be the best route for more fans. Me and my friends got into Joe during ROC (we are youngish lol) but renegades (and POC) was where it was at, a show we could watch which was cool and had a good story. However, it ended and so did most of my friends interest in joes (we still saw Ret. and were confused lol) but point is, renegades was awesome. It didn’t do as good as it could cuz most people didn’t know or didn’t have access to it. Make a fortnite crossover for awareness (and big bucks) and a renegades- like tv show and boom. You got more Joe fans *end small essay*

I, for one, would love to see GI Joe get sent in to do high-risk missions against terrorist organizations all over the world. It’s not like there’s a shortage of them.

The problem with making another Renegades is the lack of viable venues. The show failed on Hasbro’s own channel, which has only gotten smaller in the last eight years. The other cable channels have made it clear that they have no interest in serious 22-minute action cartoons. Netflix is the only option and I’m not sure they or Hasbro are up for another Voltron (i.e. a show that teens and adults love, but fails to generate toy sales).

You do have a point. A Netflix show would be pretty cool but as you said I don’t know if Hasbro or Netflix would be for it. Also how many kids watch Netflix? (I don’t know what kids watch these days)
