I say you should contact target corporate and find out for sure that way if there is no such policy then you can have the e-mail handy to show to the store manager. Last i checked we are customers, not just collectors, who want to buy this stuff and the scanner is there to let customers know what the have and if they have more in stock

Its not about collectors strick9 its about scalpers , collectors complain about items being out of stock regular people never see the items , and scalpers lurk around aisles , taking everything they know of value by the masses and quickly turning around and selling them for triple what they paid .
take no offense for i have run into similar situations , i too felt unimportant and had no luck getting employees to help , 1 because im heavily tattooed they know i do not have your run at the mill office job, and think im a scalper ! 2 because im mexican ! hahahah who cares ,man i about lost it when i went hunting for water mocassins , found one thought it was a new release hunted for weeks ,no luck , asked for help from a worker , no luck either , he smerked and said to come back another day , or keep trying every week ! (yeah ) |

i've been to countless stores and never had the 'collectible' rule pulled on me. in all but a few instances, they have been more than happy to accomodate my request to pull a case from the back. i personally feel it's 90% attitude and your interaction with the employee. lets just say my wife has never been refused so it's 100% clear it's not a policy applied evenly or even consistent application of a refusal to do so.
if i recall, the few times i was denied it was because they were doing whole store inventory or something like that where the store was full of people with scanners. personally, i think you have just as good a chance at employees cherry picking/holding product as you do scalpers hoarding stuff. i've personally been told myself by employee's that there are those that are collectors and looking for stuff as well. it's bad enough you have to hunt within a collector saturated market area but to be on the loosing end of the store employees cherry picking sucks even more. i've never seen a joe collector give an employee a hard time but i have seen starwars and hotwheels guys hurl obscenities and verbally assault them which is just really sad in my opinion. its like a jerry springer show sometimes where you have to look around just to make sure your not being taped or something.

It is a store by store rule. Most stores will pull the items while others won't. Sometimes it just depends on who you ask. I find it's better to ask someone who does not work in toys to help you. Also as far as the signs go I just rip them down and throw them in the trash. Thats the best thing to do. That way next time you ask them to pull a location for you they won't see the sign and they will pull it for you. Most people if you are nice will help you out.Although some just like to be a pain in the rear.

This entire collectors issue is just sad. Why not make money rather than restrict sales.

retail stores are just trying to reduce theft or related activities that will involve employees and other people. loss-prevention managers look out for things that will lead to shrink and other stuff.

I have had only one target around me do this. I live in the Dallas Ft worth area and i have a ton of them. Sometimes people in the toy department state they can not get the item for me but i go up to customer service and give them the dpci number and ask if they have any more. Customer service thing works 99% of the time.

i have experienced this only once. I understand the intent of the rule, but i don't think it executes well. I prefer not to buy from target myself, but have had ok experiences with the ROC stuff.

never had this happend to me personally (closest I can give is I've been followed by employees in the toy aisles), and to honest this policy is alright with me overall.
Sure it'd be annoying to be prohibited from buying more than two figures (although I agree that they should limit purchases of doubles) as I've more than once seen scalpers pick a toy dept. clean. I've never felt the need to ask an employee to pull something from the back as I figure I'll just come back another time and take my chances. |
