I never had a lot of joes growing up because my parents thought there were too many loose pieces and they'd just clutter up the house, but I always wanted them, seeing my friends' and family's collection. So for the past two years I've been on a rampage, buying up as many modern era GI Joe's as I can. I literally had none in 2016, but then a trip to Toys R' Us changed it when I saw the 50th pack with Alpine, Rock Viper, and shock trooper.
Now I have about 200+ general release, FSS, Convention figs, etc. almost out of nowhere. I don't even wanna think about how much I've spent on the after market growing this collection LOL. I guess knowing that I'm coming home to a new joe helps get me through the day at work. All the while I find myself thinking about GI Joe's throughout the day and I'm here browsing at work at figs that I already have and want to buy LOL Anyways this hobby is hella fun. Can anyone else relate? Sorry for the long rant |

Absolutely we can relate!
I find myself thinking about them all the time, as it is a nice escape from the responsibilities and realities of life. I miss being able to walk into a retail store and grab a joe. I started back up just before the 25th line started in 2007 and i couldn't imagine starting today at the current prices. Some figures have gotten cheaper, but most troop build figures are several times their original price. Thank god i troop built when and how i did. |

Just wait until the customizing bug hits you. Then you'll start getting figures from other lines, just to use those new parts for your custom Joe's. Welcome to the tank man and pics of your collection are always welcomed!!!

Dude, I think I'm getting to this phase. I'm running out of figs(I want to overpay for) so I've dipped into Marauders weapons and accessories, along with some of their diorama stuff, and now I'm getting to AVACLab and RaginSpoon.. now just gotta figure out how to paint then it's the next phase haha Last edited by VtownViper; 10-17-2018 at 05:39 PM.. |

If you have kids. You can always justify it to the wife as well. Get em New Sculpt fornthwne they are young and keep the good stuff until they are older.

I'm sort of in the same boat. I packed away my 25th Joes around the time of ROC. But when we moved last year I lost so much shelf space I couldn't display all my six inch figures, but I had enough room to put the Joes back out. Fortunately I picked up some of the 30th stuff I couldn't live without. Sci-Fi and Lowlight were favorites of mine as a kid, so they were musts when I found them at TRU. But trying to fill in gaps from POC, FSS, and 50th has become pricey. Coincidentally, the the Alpine set was the only 50th set I bought when TRU had them. Luckily I've been doing six inch customs for years now, so it's easier/cheaper to put together figures myself then pay $40, $50, $100+ for one figure on ebay. Welcome aboard!

Ah the old plastic crack addiction strikes again. Be careful not to let your possessions turn obsession. As a completionist myself, it was difficult not to buy up everything at once just to have the entire set. Slowly take your time and appreciate it all over time, after all, Rome wasn't built in a day, nor is your collection.

If you are interested in paints I can’t recomend model masters acrylic from Testors. If you do paint ONLY use acrylic. Enjoy the hobby!
