Question for the sellers who use the 'best offer' setting (I rarely do). If someone low balls you, and it auto-declines, do you even get a notification from eBay of their offer & the auto decline? I've been curious about that. Sometimes I've thrown out offers that I thought were reasonable, yet were auto-declined, and I'm curious if the seller can see that.

I don't get notified of the auto-declined offers, but when you go into offer history, it will show the auto-declined offers so you can see who is lowballing you.

with all this tom follery i'm surprised another site hasn't given ebay good competition. I have gone to other auction sites as they pop up over the years but there was so few listings for things I wanted and ebay had them cheaper, so I never tried buying off it.

I was talking with a friend who's a big Porsche guy. Air-cooled 911s. He's been doing it for a few decades and has amassed a sizable collection of spare parts and shit that are quite valuable. He came to the realization that he doesn't need it all and should start selling it off. Around the same time, his dad asked him to sell off his shaving mug/beer stein/whatever collection and my buddy looked at it as a good way to test out the selling experience on ebay. Well, long story short, he's gonna find another way to sell his Porsche stuff and the rest of his dad's collection.
One issue/scam in particular stood out to me. Basically, he'd list BINs that were a bit on the pricey side, but people would do go for it because the items were rare & they'd pay extra to not have to deal with the hassle of auctioning. An unexpected thing happened though and it happened three times from three different buyers: they'd email him after delivery and claim the item was damaged somehow, but instead of returning for a refund, they'd say it was worth it to them to fix the damage. They naturally wouldn't pay what they paid for damaged goods though and they'd then request a partial refund. One guy wanted like 3/4 of his money back. Each time, he replied with a request for a photo of the damage. Two guys wouldn't send a pic and one guy sent a pic of damage to a similar, but different item. Anyway, sounds to me like people are paying and then trying to scam a lower price after the fact. I wonder how common this is and if it has spread to the toy world. The only time I've ever had someone request a refund it was because a MOC figure that he opened had an arm joint that simply wouldn't move.
Honestly, I don't think a collector owes you a refund for something like that (I didn't manufacture the figure after all, and I'm not running a TRU), but I don't think he was scamming me. I gave him the refund and accepted the item back.

Ahh me
And of course I get a guy bidding on my stuff who places additional bids moments before the auctions end yet I never hear back from despite repeated emails asking when payment will be received. |

Anyone know how to stop the mobile app from changing listings from 3-5-7 day durations to “good till cancelled?”

I hate the mobile app. When I have to relist and I'm on my phone, I'll just use the web browser and relist using that vs using the app.
