This is a complex topic. I draw the line at zombies. Hate zombies. I have a few Zombie Cobras but they are just like burnt real bad or stuck in the caves mining for years or something. As a little fellow, I liked Serpentor, But I loved Cobra Commander so the struggle was real. Cobra-La...didn't mind them much, and now that I am a huge Marvel movie fan the concept kind of grows on me because it would be no wilder than Thor or Thanos or whatever. My Joeverse is grounded with a touch of "well maybe". In real life people are searching for relics, artifacts, etc and have for generations now. But, to answer the question, I draw the line at Zombies. Weird I know, I can dig Nemesis Enforcer and Serpentor and ancient magical races and weird weaponry but I cant grasp the undead in my verse for some reason.

I draw the line more or less at Serpentor. Cobra-La was fricking stupid. The aliens in Star Brigade, also stupid. Robo-Joe, do me a favour. I can just about accept powered armour Cobra Commander, BATs, Overkill-the-talking-battle-commander-version, particle-beam weapons Sci-Fi, Flash and the HAL used. Oh and screw the Mega Monsters and Mega-Vipers too.

My line accepts Cobra La but doesn’t accept Snake Eyes dressed as Boy George or Saxophone playing Timber!

I keep it realistic, but mixing all the different medias, you really gotta pick and choose what to use though.

I think I did a pick n' choose combo of what I liked from the comics, cartoons and my own ideas. I had all sorts of fantasy and sci-fi related storylines, growing up. I'm sure I was like a lot of kids, in that I originally had the Joes taking on Stormtroopers, Boba Fett and other Star Wars figures.
I'd occasionally run "Crossovers" with He-Man, Star Wars, and even Smurfs. I used the gimmick of a "Dimensional Transporter" or something to help everybody jump between worlds. In late 1984, my GI Joe toys outnumbered everything else, so they became my main thing. I started getting into Transformers in late 1984 but, strangely enough, I don't think I ever did any cross-overs with them. From about 1985 on, my Joes were in their own little world and didn't mesh with other toys, since I had dropped out of everything else. If they did mesh, it wasn't a straight-up crossover. For instance, I remember dusting off the Star Wars Y-Wing around the time of BattleForce 2000. It wasn't a Y-wing, just an experimental plane. When they were in their own world, post 1985....I still did some strange stuff. I remember I had a Firestorm "Super Powers" figure and I actually had Steeler fill the role of Ronnie Raymond (I guess because, at the time, Firestorm was set in Pittsburgh). When you only had ONE rogue figure, you had to figure out a way to work him into your plots. I incorporated the Cobra-La thing for a bit... but then retconned the whole thing to say that Serpentor and Dr. Mindbender were actually insane and had made everything up in a coup attempt. Cobra-La was actually "Cobra-LA" (as in Los Angeles) and they all lived like Marvel's Morlocks, below LA as weird genetic mutants. They were sort of a fourth faction and I'd throw all the Cobra characters I didn't care for with them. I had Super Trooper as an independent wannabe superhero, who would show up at inconvenient times. He even had his own Maxwell Lord-type of agent who BS'd the Joes and the government. I think I used my old 1980 Buck Rogers figure for that role. In the late 80's, I tried to be more "realistic"...but I seemed to always have a plot where Cobra took over a country. I had the Defiant then, so a lot of my stories involved space travel (around Earth; no other planets) and satellites.

Age has made me less fickle so I'll pretty much buy anything, regardless of neon coloration or absurdity.

The line was crossed with Serpentor and Cobra-La was just beyond ridiculous. There’s enough completely weird crap happening for real right now.
