UGH! Good Grief!
My inner Charlie Brown has resurfaced. WHY? Why? Do I screw up? So I’m somewhere in the middle of my latest project AND I feel intent on actually finishing. Me being me, I usually start something go halfway and start something else. Wash, rinse, repeat. So here I am working on the True Heroes longbow apache. Thank you toys R us! I was curious one day about this black helicopter so I bought it when it was 40% off. And then my daughters saw it….and took it for their Marauder Valkyries. Turns out my girls like action figures more than dolls, especially my 8 year old. And she raided the garage found my Joes and have added my Joes to her collection. I’m pretty okay with that. So I didn’t make a fuss about them taking over my cool black helicopter. I went and found another one at 50% off and bought one for me to paint. And the girls were cool with dad’s project. I decided to mimic natural countershading, like sharks, to paint tiger stripes on it. I played with masking tape to figure this out, masked the toy in various pieces and painted OD green. Got advice on dullcote. Everything is starting to fall into place. I start putting this thing back together and… I realized I masked parts when I was tired. One of my wings is tiger striped in reverse. And now I can’t believe I did such a bone headed thing. So tonight, out comes the “goof off” to take the paint off. So have you ever had a project go smoothly...Until a silly boo- boo turned things sideways? |

Too many times to count. I have painted and repainted so many customs it's not even funny anymore, more like muscle memory.

This thread shows my goof on Leatherneck.
http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...atherneck.html Hasbro painted what I assume was meant to be the US flag but didn't finish it. So I helped finish it on mine and it looked really good. Then I realized (and was pointed out to me) that the flag should have been painted backwards. The second page of that thread shows a fixed one where the flag is backwards, the way it should be, but sadly, it doesn't look as good as the original one I did.

Try using a wire-bristle brush to clean the old paint off.

The helicopter wing stripe goes from back to front.
And it's bugging me. |

Could you just strip the paint and redo it?

Yup.
I just feel dumb for not paying closer attention to what I was doing in the first place. |
