I'm a big sports fan, but I don't talk about football with people who aren't football fans. Same goes with toys.

People know I collect them as I have SE out on my desk... HOWEVER they do not know I still play with them @ home and open every single figure I buy :P. I do put them away when people come over my house.

Yes and No...
My family and friends know about my collection and they don't care. It's not a big deal to them. (Even my wife) I do worry about bringing a coworker home for dinner. You never know how they are going to react. Honestly how you display your collection can make a difference. If you spend a little money on shelves and display rack's you can impress them. Depends on how much you want to spend though. |

Well, the girls I have had in my life are 50/50 some like it, some hate it, some act like Kathrine Keener in 40 year old virgin and want me to sell my shit. "And what pray tell should I do with the money once I do"? Spend it on her I assume. However all the guys I hang with think it's wicked, and a little weird. They usually don't like that I'm a MOC collector so almost everything is in the box. However I tell them, when I'm rich and famous and sign my first picture deal, I'm a open up all that shat and build dio after dio, smoke bowl after bowl, and drink beer after beer, and relive my child hood the right way.
So in answer to your question, it depends on who's around, if they have such a hang up about it though we usually don't stay friends long. |

Not really, when i was a little younger maybe but now i don't care (especially when i went into work with a transformers football jersey) I do notice some people in the toy aisles that are looking around to see if anyone notices them like they are a spy trying not to get caught.

Really i don't care about any stigmata associated with collecting toys ,i'm very open about it to my co-workers ,family and friends it's an innocent hobby and doesn't hurt anyone .
Sometimes i joke with my girlfriend when people have made cracks about my collecting ,maybe i should have more typical "guy" interests like getting drunk all the time ,hanging out in bars and watching sports *yawning* .. |

I embrace my inner Comic Store Guy at work, and since it figured prominently in my career over the past year or so in a very positive way it tends to get overlooked for easier targets.
