As many tankers know, I have spent lots of time, money, and emotion on being a GI Joe collector in the past. It's been a while... A divorce, life, and general disgust with the product being released by Hasbro post 30th Anniversary/POC forced a long needed multi-year break. Brought a few Transformers and some Star Wars stuff during that time, but I've stayed far away from home (GI Joe). I've missed it sorely. I've kept loose tabs, and I understand there has been talk of a shared universe (which, in case anyone hasn't noticed, most of those are BOMBING. Who gives 2 craps about ROM?), a reboot movies, and some monstrosity called Hascon replacing Joecon and Botcon. No more club figures after this year. It seems we're beyond panic mode at this point. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel I am unaware of? Please tell me this is a Sunbow cliffhanger!

...the silence in response to this post is not encouraging, ha ha.
I too have been out of Joe for a few years. Sadly, I think its fan base is aging out and mainstream relevance for the brand is a thing of the past. I'd be thrilled to be proved wrong, though. |

Basically, there will be no figures at retail until the 3rd GI Joe movie comes out. There is a lot of speculation that it will be a total reboot, including going away from the ARAH story all together. Like when the 1960's soldiers became Adventure Team.
The club cannot sell any new figures after 12/31/18, and cannot sell any product after 12/31/19. So basically the only chance we have at new figures are the FSS 8.0, Joecon set with exclusives, and any other extra releases the Club may put out. They mentioned a 3 pack of female Cobra Troopers in black like the FSS 6.0 Cobra officer (sorry but I forgot the sub-team name), but they have not put out pre-orders yet. There is a chance that we may get a few figures for SDCC, and we will probably get some figures for Hascon in 2019. The other part of Joe that is disheartening is that the only Retail store that sold Joes in the last 4 years was TRU. So Hasbro will have to knock their socks off with the next release of movie figures so Target and Wal-Mart will carry them again. One glimmer of hope is the new Haslab that made Jabba's sail barge for the SW line. Maybe Hasbro will make a larger Joe vehicle/playset that will be available as a pre-order. I'd love a retooled FLAGG, but that's not realistic. I'd settle for a retooled Joe Headquarters, Comic book Pit, Whale, Cobra Helicarrier/ Cargo plane. So in a nutshell, we will not get any retail Joes until 2020 (I'm being hopeful that the movie will come out then), and they may be totally different than what your used to.

Damn, that really is bleak.
I hold out no hope that Rise of Cobra III or a reboot will be any good, either. |
