I was wondering something about Renegades and 50th Heavy Duty, why do they both keep in line with Rise of Cobra with the name Hershel Dalton? I checked the file cards, he wasn't renamed till RoC, he was Lamont Morris right up until 04's v9, then the movie changed it and it's stuck for whatever reason.
If keeping with Rise of Cobra was so important, wouldn't Breaker have been kept Abel Shaz instead of Alvin Kibbey? Only Heavy Duty and Ripcord stayed effected by RoC. I kinda get Ripcord, he and Duke were basically the only characters in RoC on the Joe side, the rest were cardboard cut outs that talked a bit or Snake Eyes. Besides that, 'Rip Cord' in the toy line wasn't prominent till RoC's 'Ripcord' anyway. But both are still Wallace Weems. I don't remember, was HD's name even mentioned in RoC? I don't think he was even prominent in the film. Is there a real life Lamont Morris absolutely pissed he's Heavy Duty in GI Joe? Just seems weird they'd keep the Hershel Dalton name. |

There's a lot of odd name changes or swaps like that, it seems.

Movie Heavy Duty's initials are also H.D., so maybe they liked that idea?

They made the international guys new characters, and that’s not even mentioning Rex and his sister.

It occurred to me that Ripcord is the most comic-accurate personality in the first Joe movie. His major plotline in the comic is getting distracted from being a soldier by a woman he has eyes for.
