Just saw this. Is this legit? KB closed down years ago so I really can't see this being too successful. But with Hasbro and Mattel wanting to make sure they can get their products out there they may back this. We'll see.

Pipe dreams and far fetched ideas. Not the first time this story has surfaced with this company or the owner.

With TRU closing down their is a market niche that needs to be filled. If they do it smart and partner with the big toy companies I could see it working to some extent.

Sorry but online shopping is the best way to buy toys of any kind. I've wasted tons of money in gas and tolls driving from place to place to look for these action figures until I just decided to go with either bigbadtoystore or amazon to get whatever I need with free shipping and cheaper than what it would cost in gas and time to buy it at retail price.

It's more likely Toys R Us Canada will Zombie back down to the U.S. but yeah, KB toys might come back because Toys R Us imploded.
If anything, Kb Toys ain't gonna get a better chance to come back . . . . . . . and it would be great Revenge against Bain Capital, those jerks who killed both Toys R Us and Kb toys to begin with. |

It's worth noting that many analysts are expecting around 5-10% of Toys R Us total marketshare will simply disappear. TRU makes up between 15-20% of the domestic US toy market, and while some of that will filter out to other retailers...there's still going to be as much of 10% of that which will NOT be recovered.
That's your impulse buys. The parent that picks up a game while their kid looks at toys. That mother who saw some leftovers of a toy line her child liked last year that Walmart dumped. The grandparent who picked up a few extra items that weren't on their grandkids' Christmas lists. Heck, LOL Surprise toys were a hit this past Christmas and were only available at TRU the year before. If TRU hadn't taken the chance...LoL Surprise might not have been picked up by Walmart or Target.

Yea online shopping is more convenient for us as adult collectors. Their will always be the parents with the "oh shit" moments where they need to buy a gift last minute. I also think for kids to have a physical store location to go to is a very different niche and personally something I think kids should have the chance to experience. The first time I took my daughter to TRU it was hilarious - it was like she walked into some magical place - she loved it. I do think they should focus very much with online retail/distribution with a small physical store footprint. They can do this smart or they can just roll out the same antiquated model that got TRU and KB in their respective situations in the first place.
BTW, 1000 Kay Bee Toy stores may open nationwide in time for Black Friday this year according to CNN. KB Toys aims to fill the void of Toys 'R' Us - Mar. 20, 2018

My fear was that they would remain pop-ups, but it sounds like he does intend to make the high-performing ones permanent so that is a good sign. I wonder if they will take on any of the planned Toys R Us exclusives to make up the inventory. I know that the Sentinel/Wolverine set was planned to go there later in the year so hopefully that gets picked up.
