Figures in Australia are $17.99 which is about $14-15. Alpha vehicles are $40 and the Night Raven $94. You guys are so lucky to have things so cheap!. Jealous

I'm grateful for the reminder:
I said a few months ago that the only thing about this hobby that really bugs me is how easy it is to spend too much money. Aside from that I've really gotten into it.

I went to my local TRU right as they opened and surprisingly I was the only one there. I looked at the Joe aisle but it was all 25th/me stuff so I went to customer service and asked about the roc figures. The manager said they were just getting ready to put them out as they had forgotten about them until they saw me walkin with m Yo Joe shirt on. I said awesome and I would help stock them. The girl goes and gets the palet from the back and wheels it out to the Joe aisle. She kills me by slowly opening the rollers, then the 12 inch, then the combat heroes. I only collect the figures and vehicles so I encourage her to open those cases. She does. I load up my cart with out looking at any prices. My cart is full of a case of the small vehicles, a case of the medium size vehicles, one night raven, one pit, and one tru bbq. I already had the rest of the figures from the cases. Weird thing there was no Destro, Desert Camo Hawk?, Neo Viper, or Baroness.
i take my haul to the register and ask the lady not to tell me my total. She rings it up and my buddy who is with my is mock crying when he sees the total. I block the total on the debit screen and enter my pin. It clears. I take it all to my buddys car with out looking at the receipt and put it in the back seat. We start driving towards anothr TRU about ten miles away. I reach into the back seat and grab the case of smaller vehicles like the Mole Digger. I start looking at them then I see the shelf price stcker on the box that says $16.99. I look at my friend and say "Holy crap these were $17 dollars." Being the good friend he is he starts laughing at me. I then pull out the crinkled reciept I had shoved into my back pocket and begin to see the prices of what I got. WOW!!!! $289.34. I couldn't believe it. I hadn't paid any attention here on the forums to the suggested retail prices of these and was expecting a price comparable to the 25th/ME lines. I was wrong. The only thing I think was worth the price tag was the PIT for $100 but I figure Target or WM mwill have it cheaper. So we get to the next TRU and I return everything I had just bought but BBQ saying my wife will kill me if she finds out how much I spent. Mind you tomorrow we leave for Vegas to celebrate one year of wedded bliss. Had she known what I spent I am sure I wouldn't be going to Vegas... well maybe the desrt along the way so she could burry my body. So a case of buyers remorse.... or the will to live prevailed today. UPDATE from later in the day... I just confessed my sins to my wife. She said she would have been OK with it!!!! The only thing she said is "why would you buy somethign with out knowing the price. Well now I know.

Joe collectors haven't had anything like this that I can recall.
We Star Wars collectors are accustomed to big releases of multiple products at one time. Funny thing, most of the initial waves of stuff end up as peg and shelfwarmers and sit around for a long, long time, but we still line up anyway. |
