GI Joe is my favorite toy line of all time. Star Wars was my first love as a child, but after that died off after ROTJ, GI Joe became my favorite. Sure I liked MOTU, Transformers, MASK etc.. but GI Joe has always been my escape. I started reading the comic at issue 11 and it probably helped my learn to read, along with being my gateway into comic books.
We moved frequently when I was a child and usually did not live close enough to my friends to see them much, so GI Joe (and my other toys) were all I had, especially during the summer. I can still remember getting 1982 Breaker at the store and seeing the commercials. Without this getting too long, GI Joe remains one of my escapes from the everyday world, just like it was when I was a child. The comic and cartoon help form my early concepts of teamwork, bravery and sacrifice along with respect for those that serve that I carry on today as a 41 year-old. |

Well aren't you a ray of sunshine?, but maybe you're right about G.I. Joe being dead and the Aubrey Sitterson incident being the final nail in the coffin and with the augments its started online maybe its best if Joe stays dead.

What is GI Joe to me? A beloved companion and temporary escape. GI Joe has always been there, from the time I first watched The MASS Device when I was a girl. (No Barbies for me!) I've mentioned before that I have disabilities and health problems, which limit my life to a great extent. I had a complicated, very preterm birth and was so underdeveloped I could not even breathe without help. I was in the hospital for months, and emerged alive, but legally blind, with cerebral palsy which can cause terrible pain, a heart condition, partial hearing loss in one ear, and neurological issues (ADHD and autism spectrum disorder). How do I live like this? I don't. I exist. And in 2015, I learned I have a liver condition that will shave decades off my life and eventually be terminal.
GI Joe has seen me through some very dark times. Joe was there when I had few friends in childhood. It's here now, like a warm, fuzzy pair of old slippers. My favorite aspect of GI Joe? Zandar & Zarana. My favorite characters ever since they were introduced. And ever since I discovered they were a pair of twins, I fought so hard to see that it wasn't culled from the characters officially. That it was actually acknowledged and developed. Also too, to be a part of something I absolutely love, to have a small legacy as a fan by making a tiny difference in the official material, and to have a legacy in life. Yo Joe!

This is amazing! We're getting a ZANDAR figure! ZANDAR featured prominently in the Cobra Commander series! Character development! It's a great time to be a Zandar fan! Thank you, Hasbro!!! |

It'll be back eventually. But what it is when it comes back is another matter entirely. |

Dreadnok Twins, it's refreshing when we have the occasional lady join us, but I am so sorry to learn of your daily struggles. I, too was a pre-term birth baby, and I've had some health issues of my own over the years, but nothing like what you are dealing with. Know that you're in my thoughts and prayers, and I'm so glad you have something like G.I. Joe to bring you some enjoyment and comfort. God bless you, dear!!

It's nostalgic escapism for me, pure and simple. It affords me the opportunity as an adult to almost think like a kid again. It's priceless.
Now I'll tell you what it isn't: it isn't SERIOUS BIDNESS! It isn't an investment. It isn't my life. It isn't something I'm gonna bitch about or get indignant over. If G.I. Joe ends, I'm ok with that. If it comes back in a kid-targeted form, that's fine by me. I've had my time with it as a child, and then got a second go around with it as an adult with disposable income. How awesome is that!? I appreciate both of those experiences and I'll always have a soft spot for the brand and Hasbro as a result. |

Really awesome reply's here. For me it's mostly the cause of the awesome childhood I received. Having backyard battles with all my friends, watching all of the awesome cartoons (that seemed endless) really great times. I remember getting in trouble for digging holes in the back yard for shooting positions and bases.

Great stories, guys, I appreciate every single reply. I'm starting to see why we defend GI Joe so passionately, and I hope those in charge are also seeing it.
Yo Joe.
