whenever a new vehicle came out, there would always be a new figure to come included in the box with the vehicle whether it was a nameless type of character or a character named character to fit in with the Joes or CObra. the figure was shown right in the lower right box corner all the time.
Anyone else miss those good old days? |

Sometimes. There were quite a few that didn't include a dude.
As for how the vehicles looked, some were just comical. Like, you had to wonder if being the vehicle operator was some kind of punishment. |

Even as a kid I had to give Cover Girl credit for having her huge grape sticking out like that. You could disable the entire vehicle with a single 7.62 round lol.

Well what else is going to protect them from swallowing a bug in the heat of battle?

"Hey can I be like a cool ninja or something?" "Here you go buddy, Styrofoam glider on your left. And this helmet isn't going to do damned thing to help you but you have to wear it, I don't make the rules." "Ohhhh I joined Cobra to be a ninja." "Na we got way too many sub par ninjas, it's embarrassing really. Glider is best for you." I don't miss the included figures, though some vehicle drivers are among my favorite characters, IE Clutch, Crankcase, Copperhead, Zartan, etc. I would not have minded if the 25th and forward lines did not include drivers and offered them separately on card. As an adult collector I would have preferred it actually. What I really miss about the vehicles is the IT vehicle of the year that you just had to have for Christmas! it started off slow with the MOBAT, then the Sky Striker or HQ, then Whale and Rattler, etc. I miss the hype and demand when you got your first figure or boxed item from the new line and opened the insert to check out all of the new stuff, and trying to make out the silhouettes on the card backs. Good times.

I'd have to say the RAM was probably my most played with vehicle, I had like 4 of them as I got them all as Birthday gifts at one time, my mom suggested taking them and exchanging them but I said no the Joes drive a lot of them, and it was cool looking as well with the Gatling gun sidecar and streetbike cowl.
As for bigger vehicle it was a draw for my favorite, between the APC and the warthog. As for in my honest opinion the most ridicules looking and functioning vehicle had to be the cobra pogo ballistic ball??? Yes let's sit in a capsule on 3 spring legs and a full glass canaopy so that 1. If I land upside down I'm crushed by the steel capsule and shredded by the massive amounts of glass, OR 2. I ride in an object that bounces with such force shaking me like a dog with a ragtoy and my brains become mush bouncing around my skull. And how are you supposed to aim and fire weapons when your bouncing around like Crack fiend on a sugar high!!! |
