Like someone said, there was an Action Force Monthly/GI Joe European Missions story where they depicted two guys in Copperhead's uniform and actually referred to them as 'Copperheads' or 'the Copperhead'. As a kid, not having the Moccasin, I thought that Copperhead was another generic trooper just like blue shirts, Vipers, Snow Serpents, et al.
As for Rattlers, there are generic pilots depicted in several stories in the US Joe comic. One time they wore red flightsuits, another they wore blue. |

Marvel Action Force comic used Copperhead's outfit on other sea-going cobras, so...I dunno.
My friend had two water moccasins and used both Copperheads. He's not much of a character, anyway. Non-existent in the comic, and minor cartoon appearances. If you had the dark gloves variation you could used that one as the real Copperhead or something. Comic Rattler pilots varied. Sea Rattler pilots (seen once) wore what looked like white version of Wild Weasel's uniform without the lower part/oxygen mask(?). Special Missions shows some with Wild Weasel's uniform, red and all. Sunbow used a new blue shirt pilot design for that one episode "Last Hour to Doomsday", I think it was. Don't think they appear again, as Season 2 was mostly Night Ravens and a few Firebats. I never had even one rattler as a kid, so it wasn't a problem. I did pick up a used Wild Weasel at some point. He piloted whatever I needed that didn't have a pilot.....probably a FANG...what a loser. Last edited by Sean_C; 09-09-2017 at 11:12 PM.. |

In the Comics as far as Rattlers go. They No name pilots wore a White variant of Wild Weasels uniform.
Nothing on the Water Moccasin as I can remember. Side note there was a blue shirt Named Coperhead that was killed. As far as Cartoons go. Avacs, Blueshirts with a diffent helmet and a black uniformed trooper hoped in the Rattler. Seemed like only named cobras were in the gunners seat with a blue shirt pilot |

He piloted whatever I needed that didn't have a pilot.....probably a FANG...what a loser. Yeah, I'm going to have to respectfully ignore this uniform... A better idea for the generic rattler pilot seems to be the gun metal paint variant of wild weasel, unreleased for 2016, or some similar variation. like the Russ Heath comic #24 version. Myself having been a proud owner of the vintage figure, cannot unsee him in the traditional figure colors. I'd be tempted to make a concept custom based on this idea, but not right now... For Copperhead, I've been working on an idea in actual figure form. The concept was at heart simple, but the finished product did not reflect its simple premise. Gonna let it warm a little before deciding to present it. If I kill my concept figure, I'd say the generic moccasin pilot uni is the Copperhead uni, as suggested by the Action Force comics. Either way, in my mind there were only a handful of these guys and they're all kinda fit the character profile of Copperhead. A naval fleet, so to speak, would be developed later with the hydrofoils and Lampreys... |
