It's been a couple of years since this game was shut down and pulled off the app shelf. Can we finally talk about what happened to it? I still don't understand why the game designers were forced to pull the game. Cost? They couldn't afford the license fees? Did Hasbro seriously have other ideas for where to take the brand at that time? The game was never perfect, but dang do I miss it now. Was a great time waster with a lot of great G.I.Joe artwork. I would play it today if it were ever to reappear. Unfortunately, all we've got now is this G.I.Joe Ninja Strike game that no one talks about and I imagine scarcely anyone plays!

I honestly got addicted to the game and had to sell my accounts on eBay for safety and health reasons.

I am glad the game got shut down. It was an addiction for me and I didn't have time for anything else. I seriously was addicted. Once it shut down, I found I had so much more time for my family and other things.

Wow, I had no idea that the game caused such addiction issues for people. And I wondered how people managed to rack up so many points in each event! And Wedge, I think I may have been teammates with you for a couple of events! Haha! Well, I am happy for your sanity and family health that it's gone. Did anyone ever discover *why* the game was shutdown? I don't imagine they shut it down for Joe fans' psychological health (although I suppose that could be a possibility)!

I was addicted cause I wanted all the rewards but didn't want to spend money so I actually would jump on at the designated times to do my PvP battles or boss battles when my ammo recharged so basically, I think it was every 45 minutes, I would jump on and play the battle and then log off, even during work, weddings, family dinners, etc.
I seriously am glad they ended this. However, I did meet some people as trading partners and teammates. As for closing down, my speculation is that they were losing money and some of the top players, may have been hacking as well. Also, some people started realizing tricks to get further in the game without having to spend. I suspect it was a money issue because they had a huge sales blitz just before the announcement, possibly hoping to get enough sales to continue the game, but ultimately, fell short, or they knew they were shutting down and wanted to cash in as much as possible with those great sales before closing. Luckily, I got all my money back from that sale.

Luckily, I got all my money back from that sale. GI Joe never had as wide a customer base as the Transformers games, and that's even before getting into hacking concerns (I reported a guy using FOUR Leader-type Storm Shadows in PvP one time). In the years since, DeNA's licenses have largely expired, with Transformers Battle Tactics getting axed last year to make way for Transformers: Earth Wars. Perhaps the best thing to come from the game was the fantastic art for the classic characters. It's just unfortunate Hasbro hasn't seen fit to reuse any of it, and it doesn't look like they'll have much of a reason to do so when GI Joe relaunches in a few years.
