The Desert and Arctic 7-packs are a confusing bunch. They're more uniquely identified by their specialties than their code names. We may need some guidance on which figures in those packs are eligible like we had for the B.A.T.S.
Easy to navigate through their file cards here: Magnum6Delta 2008: Cobra Desert Assualt Squad Magnum6Delta 2008: Cobra Arctic Assualt Squad |

He probably doesn't since his Code Name is just Cobra Viper. It doesn't matter how different a trooper is in appearance or design if has the same code name, and Viper (1986) and Cobra Viper (2002) are probably the same.
But there's some maybe debate over Snow Serpent vs Snow Serpent Trooper. Of course, regular Snow Serpents are all "troopers", but...I dunno. LOL |

Things aren't based on just code name. Both Long Ranges got in despite having the same code name. They're distinguished by their real names. Tank distinguished the B.A.T.S. by their specialties and bios more than by their names. So B.A.T. 5 and Sky B.A.T. got combined even though they had different names.

Anyway... Are "COBRA" (technically "The Enemy") and "Cobra Trooper" two different things? No? But give that Trooper a tan tripwire outfit and a gas mask helmet and he is something different? 1997 Troopers were mostly Vipers in appearance, but were technically Cobra Troopers. In 2004, we got "Cobra Infantry Troopers", which really are COBRA (The Enemy) and Cobra Trooper. But then that's saying similar appearance trumps different code names and how far do you go with that (Street Viper and Elite Viper?) Due to fate 1994's Viper was not "Infantry Viper" as the 1994 product folder shows, while Retaliation's Cobra solider was "Cobra Combat Ninja" because Hasbro is silly. So the former isn't eligible while the latter is. |

From the rules...
Quote:
However, some versions of troopers, though similar, will be considered as separate characters, such as officers or leaders (Alley Viper Officer, Crimson Guard Squad Leader, etc.), troopers from different units (Python Patrol, Crimson Strike Team, etc.), improved or enhanced troopers (Alley Viper II, BAT II through V, etc.), and troopers with particular distinctions (Arctic HISS Driver, MARS Industries Weapons Officer, Viper Guard, Crimson Neo-Viper, etc.).

I wonder with the FSS Battle Corps Vipers if now they could be considered distinct enough like BATS v2. There was no real distinction with the original Battle Corps Vipers and the original Viper other than looks. But now that every other Viper looks much like the original Viper and the FSS Battle Corps Viper seems to attach a Light INFANTRY roll for them could they be considered different?
I would say the Heavy Weapons Viper from the Arctic Extreme pack would not be distinct enough, although I love that particular figure a ton. However Sonic and Python-Vipers would be different enough, so Heavy-Weapons Viper why not? Viper Commandos, Viper (Air Trooper), Crimson Strike are fairly different.

I think Battle Corps Viper is different enough for our purposes....Hasbro certainly doesn't make things easy with the way that they name things. It's like they didn't keep in mind polls like this or something....
Anyway, voted for Slash, because he Mr. C and Brainstorm were the ones I was considering...looks like with 45 minutes left, he has a chance. |

Mr. C is better off if Slash wins/ties this one, because he's never going to out-pull Slash for votes and his drop zone is fast approaching. We need to trim down the Sunbow characters to stop them from competing with each other.
