I want him to experience Joe in a way much like I did in '82.
So for those of you out there keeping them for your kids, how are you going to give them the figures? All at once? a few per month? Wave at a time? I'm thinking of giving them to him 1-2 at a time by original 80's release (approximately). Why not let him get the original 13 first, assuming we do get them all? I've also thought about a joint comic + figure release where we read one of the early marvel comics together to introduce charaters and then give him the figures as they make their first appearances. I think about this a lot (not unlike the "What order will you show the SW films to your kids" debates I read on other boards). What age do you start giving them these figures? I was 7 in '82, but I don't know if I can wait until he's 7... I think my wife and i are planning a gi joe themed christmas. We thought about giving some of my older figures to him on his b-day and if he likes them, he will get the entire 25th collection for christmas that year... |

Wow, that would be one heck of a christmas if you were a kid (or an adult). I remember at an early age getting around 12-15 Empire Strikes Back figures in one box. I thought someone had robbed a toy store for me. My family did that though, getting a ton of stuff from whatever toys I was into and then split it up so that I got tons of that toy line from everyone. It was a good system. It beat the heck out of getting the dreaded grandmother present = clothes |

If he likes them he has a huge surprise coming his way at christmas... P.S. I hated the dreaded grandmother presents...underwear and socks. i swear that is the only isle she goes down for us grandkids. I always asked my mom for gi joe for christmas and usually that is all she would get me. It was like someone robbed a toystore, but oh so worth it... |

I never keep figures MOC but the 25th anniversary ones I am for a few reasons:
1)They look like the original figures and they display so nicely with the art. 2)Too many tiny accessories to keep track off 3)Because I don't play with them. |

if you love yyour g.ijoe there is no point of taking them out, for what? so that they could break easily and have wasted your money, i learned that lesson when i was a little kid

Point is, some people like to open, and guess what...they love their toys as much as you do. Nothing stays on card or in package in my house. Nothing.
