I store my original joes in plastic boxes that hold 6 each...the new ones are sealed or displayed so far... I made a mistake by putting the weapons to the original joes in a big plastic container which includes every collection I have ever bought, so it would take me days and days to get them all sorted...I have began the process once and got strung out...lol...so with the new ones whatever method I chose I will keep the weapons with each figure....

I have mine packed in a box. It's full now, so I'm going to have to figure out something else. My wife says now that the box is full, I'm done, but not hardly.
For me, the card art is the biggest attraction. The figures somewhat resemble the originals, but they aren't copies of the originals. The cards are copies of the originals. That's why I'm keeping mine on the card. I don't care how much they're worth later. I just pull them out and I remember what the cards looked like back in the 80s. When I first saw the 25th figures, it wasn't the figures that caught my attention, it was the familiar card art. I have about 7-8 loose figures that are duplicates of some of my favorites, but I have everything still packaged up. I have all the carded figures from each wave, the three boxed packs, and each of the comic packs. I'll probably be a little more picky with the vehicles though. The obstacle I have is my wife would never approve of me displaying these anywhere in the house, so they'll stay in the box for now. I have two young daughters, so they have no interest in GI Joe. |

Hey chris, i am with you. To me, the card art is what caught my eye with this line, it brings back so many memories. I am hoping to hang these on my sons wall if my wife lets me. We are getting ready to decorate our baby's room for when he is born and i asked her for one wall... |

Funny you should ask. I place mine in a temperature controlled 'clean room' under 24/7 guard. I can see them through a tiny porthole that only allows the minimum of light through, but otherwise they are for me to only imagine what they look like and not actually touch or handle in any significant way. That way in another 25 years when these are vintage, I can sell them on eHorde.com for a virtual fortune!!
Okay, seriously, I open 'em all. If I happen to purchase a dup. or two, once I've completed an initial run and happen upon favored extras, I may keep them on card simply because I love the art, but otherwise they all get opened and displayed- eventually collecting dust like everything else in my studio. :-D |

I am normally one to say open them up, but in this case where you are buying the figures for your son to have, I would say leave the figures in their packages. Then later on, when you decide your son is old enough to have these figures, the two of you can have fun opening them together. |

Troop building isn't that hard or expensive to me. I buy maybe 4 or 5 figures a week.. or did when the troopers/red ninja were in abundance. i have only once bought more than 3 figures at one given time. that was when wave 5 came out.. the place had at least 6 cases on the shelf, so I went wild. cost me $80 retail.
As of late though.. there hasn't been much on the shelves.. so I buy a figure every now and then if it's a trooper, air trooper, CG, or red ninja.. Or if someone here needs a figure, I will pick it up for them.

Yeah you are probably right. I can't wait til he is old enough to understand gi joe and we can open them together. I want him to have the same experience with gi joe as i did...Thanks |

my 7yr old could care less about gi joe. he thinks my stuff is cool but expressed no interest in it at all. my 3yr old on the other hand loves them. he already has his own mobat and a couple 25th cobra troopers.
i try to keep 1 moc for every figure and if i like them i get more for myself and kids. the tuff part about army building is actually finding them. i also, have never bought more than 3 or 4 at one time. it's maybe 2 a week if i'm lucky. i have much better luck dealing with members here for what i need
