Pretty much like that.
We have our own evil-bay. A week ago, tehre was an auction for Destro/Breaker pack at 0.30 cents. Two days later, out of nowhere was at 3 bucks. Then at 10. Those where the only three time the bid changed. The auction ended, i didn't see anyone claiming. The same pack is again, at 0.30 cents again. the only way Ebay could resolve this is any non payers get neg feedback from ebay. or can't bid for a while. or maybe can't bid from that seller for a period of time. but that's not fair to the people who aren't bein evil. heh.

Dumb thing about this getting your friends to bid for you is that they STILL have to pay Ebay fees at the end, whether it sells or not. Ebay Wins. Everyone else loses!

But since this is my livelihood, I can't help but look at it this way. It took me about a month to make that Serpentor, realistically that's about 80 hours spent working on him. Divided that by the final price and that's about $4.44 an hour. Is that still too much? Since ebay is the only outlet for this kind of toy art and considering how much these things usually go for, I have to consider that a pretty good rate |

Also think that you saved over 300 beans. Think of other stuff you can do with that. There's more fish in the sea.

Wow that thing's beautiful, I'll cry a little for you. That's a hefty price it wound up going for.

I disagree. Custom figures are works of art. It all depends on what value the owner of the art is willing to put on it. The free market determines what something is worth which boils down to what someone is willing to pay.
People are willing to pay over a hundred thousand dollars to own a Picasso painting. I would be just as happy with a hundred dollar print of the painting. But if I found some original Joe Box Art or a really nice custom figure like this one and I had the money I would pay a few grand for something if I really wanted it. I think it is awesome that this figure sold for this much. It inspires me to keep making custom figures. I sold my custom Serpentor for around $90 which was more than I expected to get but this one is awesome. Everyone needs to understand the Time effort and materials that goes into something like this. He could have spent at least $50 on the materials and if he spent 40hrs working on it then $355 is really not that much. Think about it.

It's a cool serpentor but I would cry tears of joy that I lost if I were you. Then i'd puke because I almost spent over 3 hundred on that, yikes!

Believe me that I totally understand the justifications on the limits of toy spending, as I do it all the time. And I've learned very early on that not many people can understand the amount of work and time involved in these things. But since this is my livelihood, I can't help but look at it this way. It took me about a month to make that Serpentor, realistically that's about 80 hours spent working on him. Divided that by the final price and that's about $4.44 an hour. Is that still too much?
