Be careful man. In Sept. I sold a $500 Amazon gift certificate on Ebay. The buyer used Paypal I sent him the gift certificates codes, we exchanged postive feedback. Perfect transaction right? Wrong!
Two weeks later Paypal takes $500 out of my account because the buyer claimed he didn't authorize the purchase. This was on I believe Sept. 19th. In any case like this Paypal holds the disputed funds until the case has been dicided one way or the other. Needless to say I was pissed. I followed all of Paypal's procedures and sent them links to the original auctions address. Luckily the guy that tried to rip me off had a few negative ratings on Ebay where he obviously tried to pull this crap with other people. I sent Paypal's investigators those links too. To make a long story short I had given up on getting my money back. I thought some POS scam artist got me for $500. Well two weeks before Christmas Paypal resolved the case in my favor and I got my money back. I don't know if this was helpful but Paypal's got your back, that what we pay them for. |

Well, I wouldn't go the "alternate e-mail creation" route. Not that it isn't a good idea...but if the buyer in question is really trying to scam you, then it would be VERY easy to say "Look! The seller doesn't even have his registered ebay email address connected to blahblahblah"....capiche?
Tell the buyer to just cancel the payment. The funds will instantly appear back in his account. He can then re-send. It's really easy. That being said, I agree that you should contact eBay/PayPal and advise them of what's going on..just in case this guy tries to get slick. |

Hey Thanks for the options. I thought about the alternate email thing but I didnt think that was the best way to go. Im still waiting to see what happens. I asked the buyer (who might very well be a board member here, dont know) to cancel the payment and resend it to my correct address....but he is concerned about paying twice? At least thats what he told me. I like the idea about giving him a discount because of my mistake....Ill definitely do that. Anyway, hopefully this will resolve itself soon. Thanks again! Sam
