G.I.JOE Original Art (A blast from the past)

Something I wanted to share with my friends here at the Tank. (Sure you may have seen it before, but it's worth another look).

Awesome!
That style of actual, skilled artwork always brought a level of reality to the characters that the toys, comics, and cartoons never could. As a kid, looking at that stuff was practically like viewing documentary photos, and that art still holds up extremely well!
That stuff, in addition to the package paintings grabbed me more than anything else could, way more than the digitally reprduced versions on the 25th cards. Some of those seem so "off" to me.

Thanks for sharing, I truly appreciate it.

That's very cool. What was the original purpose of the art? It looks like it tells a story... kinda like a comic book or for a kids book?

I had one of the illustrated books that they used that art in. I can't remember the title right now, but it involved Cobra trying to hijack the Space Shuttle and the Joe team being sent to stop them. I got a little annoyed with it because the whole time, Low-Light was on the squad that the Joes sent, but he never got acknowledged in the writing or in the dialogue, as if the artist and the writer were working from a different set of instructions on who to include.

EDIT: I just found it on Yojoe.com, the book was entitled Star Fight.
