Again, remember Rise of Cobra saw EXTENSIVE support from all retail venues, with TWO 3.75" figure assortments, 3 vehicle assortments plus the PITT, 3 assortments of 12" figures (a basic, and two different deluxe assortments), plus Combat Heroes, role play, Tough Troopers, the wacky pull and go vehicles among other items and a metric ton of exclusives at all retailers. Rise of Cobra was a bigger push than what Transformers got in 2007, which makes its lackluster result all the more damaging.

Oh I believe you. I remember going to Walmart right before ROC hit theaters and GI Joe was Everywhere at Walmart. I'm talking Star wars style with their own island full of figures. Was a great sight to see for the brand.

I'd save this line by allowing Hasbro to try a new direction, not bitch about it, and see what they do. ARAH has had a great run....the only constant in life is change. All of us hard corp ARAH people keep trying to hang on...almost like a family member on life support...because we can't let go, for our own selfish reasons. We like to bag on Hasbro in here but remember, they gave us Joe in the first place. I'm not jumping on their bandwagon..I just really want to see what this brand can do with some real support behind it...in any form that it takes. To me..that is a win.

I actually like a lot of the RoC line and the vast majority of my collection comes from this line. |

Because GI Joe was largely doing that when everyone decided that Hasbro should just remake the same old stuff during 25th.
Just check out the 2005 DTC vehicle line up: 3 3/4" Vehicles or the Cyber Mechs (designed in 2005), or most of the 2010 line for that matter. 3 3/4" Vehicles So GI Joe has done that, but hasn't seemed to have had any major impact on the line as a whole. The HiSS IV is probably the most derided, least popular vehicle in the franchise and most of the other vehicles were kinda ho-hum as well. The new VAMP and HiSS V were the only vehicles in those selections that really looked cool. |

In truth, I've long speculated that this was the moment G.I. Joe really went off the rails. Not because the Pursuit of Cobra line wasn't great (it was), but because it completely threw off Hasbro's "schedule" practically ever since. I still think that the mismatch of G.I. Joe Renegades' premiere and the release of toys based on the cartoon was due to the Pursuit of Cobra "delay" and that if it hadn't happened, the cartoon and its' toys would've dropped roughly simultaneously. May or may not have helped the line but at the very least we probably would have gotten another couple or three waves of figures before Retaliation took over (a lot of the stuff in the Concept Vault!) And of course, Hasbro then got majorly screwed again with the delay in releasing Retaliation to theaters. They had to twiddle their thumbs for months, not really being able to develop further stuff because they didn't know how well (or not) the Retaliation product they had already designed was going to sell. So when Retaliation ran it's course...they basically had nothing left. Last edited by Jmacq1; 05-25-2017 at 08:50 AM.. |

The one thing I hate about the RoC line is the forearm/wrist on all of the various Vipers. They are ugly and they aren't well articulated at all. Those stupid heads they have are easy enough to replace but to screw up the lower arms on every trooper figure like that is just ridiculous.
Other than that I don't have anything major against the RoC line.
