These 25th Anniversary releases are very hard to predict and its just as a pain in the butt when I used to collect Marvel Legends (Toy Biz versions).
And like ML's, because of the high demand and scalpers out there, finding them is a challenge that even for myself (who has been good at hunting toys down), I'm having to find myself looking towards e-bay and e-tailers because it's such a pain in the butt to go hunt and yeah, the gas used...it's crazy these days. We're in the same boat as you are though.

Which is also the reason why they say "All you see on the shelves is all we have" but in the back rooms they can have stock from two years ago. So it depends on who you talk to most of the time. Hopefully you have better luck your next few tries. |

I have to say, after i wrote this thread, i continued calling wal mart and found that the people i talked to have been much nicer and have been going out of their way to help me. Although i did have one bad experience, i will not throw the blame on every person that works the toy isles and has to deal with questions from us collectors. so far i have gotten truck schedules and someone even told me every figure they had on the pegs at that time. It ended up being close to 20 figures. That is going above and beyond.........

my advice to all of you guys, don't take it against these retail employees.
reason? do you expect a retail employee to know every single item in their store? they tend to get rotated in different sections and departments on a frequent basis. so their awareness of items can be limited. and also, if let's say TRU, do you expect a retail employee to remember or even know every item in their store when their store gets thousands of different kind of item every single day? even their store gets re-arrange like every day. i don't see why people complain retail employees being rude when you also customers who expect from these retail folks to produce an item out of thin air. if they say they don't have, take their word for it. i wouldn't even bother throwing a fit nor making a silly routine "let me speak to your manager"-crap. *like that's gonna work* sometimes it's even a hopeless cause to argue with them anyways. so why bother. like they're gonna give out a single case out of thin air.

I am not complaining, nor am i throwing a fit. I work in a job similar to retail and we have a rule of thumb..Guests or customers come first.. Without us they have no job. I know a corporate giant like wal mart doesn't care if they lose a customer here and there but after a while it adds up. i have never once complained when they said they didn't have anything and i am never rude. I understand that different people work in different departments all the time. But in the end retail workers are there to serve us and our needs. It is no different asking an employee where the sleeping bags are. They are there to help us find what we are looking for whether it be asking if anything is in stock or when are you expecting the truck. If they don't know, they don't know, but retail workers have no right to be rude to any customer if the customer is not rude to them............. |

Ive never had any luck with people at Wal-mart, especially the Electronics department. I understand they are busy, or get tired of people asking questions (I, as well work in a retail type place atm), but sometimes their blatent arrogance is annoying.
Im talking about one particular situation when I was looking for a game that came out 3 days prior to when it was released. I read on the website that they had the game in stock at the store near me, so I drove there and didn't see it on the shelves. I asked the guy if they sold out of this game, and he turns around and hits a button on his computer (which I can see from where I am standing) and tells me that the game hasn't came out yet. There, on the website he was on, in a "New Releases" section, was the game, dated 3 days prior to that day. I looked at him kinda puzzled and asked confirmation that the game was not out yet, and he again, fiddled with the computer and said "Nope, the game isn't out yet". I gave up, even though I saw it on the friggin screen that it had been released. As I walked out of the department, I saw a couple of boxes that hadn't been opened yet, probably the game I was looking for. I imidiately left and went to a gamestop, where I purchased the game that he told me "Wasn't out yet" Ever since then, I dont even bother asking the employees any questions, unless engaged in a conversation with them. Now target, Ive had completely the oppisite. People will come up and ask if theres something your looking for, and if you say yes, they seem to do their damndist to find it for ya.

I agree! All to often I is given the wrong information because the employee is "challenged". I’ve been told things from, ‘not ever selling that item’ to fictitious release dates that only this sole Meijer is doing for the eight Joes in their system? I've been told, "this Wal-Mart won't be selling anymore G.I. Joes" and "sorry you drove almost 30min. out the way sir, the employee mistaked the Commando for the Warrant Officer". You have to admit, it gets frustrating when you deal with someone that hates their job but do it anyway! |

hey someone mention about a truck schedule, how did you ask a Walmart employee about that?
Its been REALLY difficult finding the singles at my Walmart down the street here in North Orange County in Southern Cali. I mean they didnt have the price on the singles for couple months, then they brought it back few weeks ago. |

TOY HUNTING (HARD CORE): [Note - this was during my hardcore toy hunter years several years ago, same can still be applied today]
If your Wal-Mart is 24 hours...go there at 11:30 p.m.-1:00 a.m. Look at the pallets and search for GI Joe. You either ask the person working the dept. to open the box for you or if no one is around, open it yourself [note: I'm not advising you do this but if no one is around to open it...then you either leave it on the pallet and go home or get that key and rip open that tape and see what's inside]. More than likely 24 hour stores have people working the dept. Non-24 hour stores...those people are in the back room pulling the pallets out and stockers are everywhere else. If your Wal-Mart is not 24 hours and closes at midnight...then you go there around 11:00 p.m and do the same thing. Or wake up and be right there at 6:00 a.m. That's why it's sometimes important to know the people stocking....talk to them a few times, say hello, ask questions because if they don't know you and you ask for them to open the box, they'll probably say they can't or they are not allowed to put stuff up on that day and people have to get it the next day. Sometimes I'll just say...I know you can't put it out...but any chance you can just open it and I just want to see what's inside if it's the one I'm looking for. Most have obliged to open to let you see. Then, what I would do is ask one of their department supervisors if I can buy a figure (which the regular employee can put out) and supervisors have always said go ahead and give to him. So, never had a problem. And if you don't want to deal with that...make a call at 6:00 a.m. or even after midnight if the WM is 24 hours. And ask. -- As for delivery schedules, in my experience I learned that I had more luck on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. That is....Thursday night stock for Friday Morning and Saturday morning stock for Sunday morning. For 25th Anniversary, so far I have been able to find new waves on Thursday morning and Saturday morning. But it can vary at locations but it's good to talk to your toy dept. stockers, let them know what you are looking for, if you get close to them...and they are willing to call you if a shipment comes in, then that's good for you. Now, I don't do the hardcore toy hunting stuff...but I read the sightings in my state... if one posts they saw new figures in the morning...I'm confident that mine either got it the same day or it will be the day after. So, far...each post made on the sightings have worked positively for me for wave 4,5 and the wave 3 comic packs. No need for me to go to the store to check. Just read the sightings, make a call to the toy dept. Ask them if the pegs are full or empty, they check and tell you what they saw...(ie. I see a "sailor", "ranger", a white ninja and right there that is enough to tell me that Wave 4 were there. Wave 5's...made a call at 6:00 a.m. and she was like...some "snow guy" came in. Then you know that was Snow Job. For the wave 3 comic packs....saw that they came out around the country, made a call at midnight and the stocker was like "Wild Weasel" and that's all she could remember and that was enough for me to check. Just make a phone call...and be prepared to go to your store immediately. Otherwise, you wait and it'll be gone. Of course, you can just order online and eliminate the hunt. You pay a little more but at least get rid of some of that frustration. === As for video games, I would never call WM because a) they are busy most of the time or talking with friends or co-workers b) The games are all over the place and not alphabetized c) Learned that when some stores get them...Wal-Mart and some dept. stores take a few days longer. I buy games in WM...especially PC games...but many times I went there for a game and it was a wasted trip.
