i remember one particuliar battle at my friends house. i went over on a friday and we spent all night setting up the battlefield and eating pizza. his dad had a bitching rec room with a bar and a pool table. he took the bar, and i set up an elaborate base at the other end of the room. we got it all set up for the great die off on saturday.
when saturday came, we couldn't wait to slaughter each other. normally, when my friends and i would confront each other like this, we would send out small patrols or isolated attacks. this time, i decided to send out everything all at once d-day style. he didn't know what hit him. i sent out every last thing i had behind my fortress and overwhelmed his forces. i penetrated his base and killed his leaders at a great cost, but i got it done. after that battle, i had a hard time playing some of the guys that had died. i felt that they were actually dead or retired. that was the greatest battle i had had and sadly one of the last. in my mind, a new chapter had started with my collection after that battle. bring in some fresh cannon fodder, the war is not yet won. |

In my Joeverse, if I wanted to not use a character for a while, they either got shipped to a 'remote base' for a tour.....or they 'dropped into a coma' for whatever length of time I didn't want to use that character(s)........
I don't need 'death' in my Joeverse.........not with my G.I. Joes/Cobras anyway........however, they did deal with the death of friends/family/military buddies.......

never got killed just injury real bad, when i p[layed alone, but went we did big group battle no one was safe . Certain character got two or three moves in a round, as did certain vechiles, Covergirl and her wolverine was feared on the battlefield, she ended up getting killed first and the fight for her and other vechiles started.

my cousin and I used to bulid some full on trenches and bases in the bushes near my house and then to battle we would take shots at each others troops with our air guns. Some figured could take several shots before being useless and set aside to be kit bashed into new uniform or character. If they were shot in the arm it was guaranteed to be unrepairable. Direct chest shots sometimes shattered the whole torso sending the limbs flying in every direction or in other cases just leave a little dent. The last great battle I had on my own and since my air gun did little to stop the vehicles in the battle I used logs and rocks as mortars... it was so sweet... that was almost 15 years ago now and sometimes when Im at my dad's I still go walk in the bush to check out the still shattered pieces of my Joe APC, Cobra Stun, Joe Badger, Cobra Paralyzer and a bunch others. Needless to say when my joes died in battle, they hardly came back.

All troops must die before Cobra Commander says retreat and the High Command runs away.

Mine died. My brothers and I would also use that fake vampire blood. There are still stains on the floor.

Oh man I had some awesome battles. I can count on one hand the very few Joes/Cobras that were safe. Everyone else could and usually were killed at any given time. Now these favorites didn't always leave the battle field with all of their limbs intact, you see I had this little screw driver...
Flint, Lady Jaye and Firefly never died and sometimes even teamed up. Flint was always my favorite good guy (that's probably why I hate the 25th version so much I still won't open it) and was unstopable. I'd have a battle in my backyard that resulted in Flint being buried alive, the end? Wrong, I'd leave him there a few days, that's how long it takes him to dig himself out. He'd rise out of the dirt and blast everyone in sight with his shotgun. A few dozen corpses later plus bandages made out of tiny strips of masking tape and Flint's on his way home. Man this thread's bringing back some memories, thanks. |

So funny, Same here...it was like a 2 hour set up...then I finally played with them...When I did get around to playing them...it was a last man standing type fight...rarely did more then 2 survive...I always tried to make it a suprise..trying to not script out my battles, but Recondo, Snake-Eyes, and Gung-Ho survived more than most.... everyone usually died, and the funny part was it was never really Joe vs Cobra, it's more like a free for all!
