I would say modern, but I like this idea of the not too distant future. I have promoted many so I guess the team has been together for 4 or 5 years, with different introduction times than before. No one is dead.

if we're going with a multiverse, mine would be:
Earth 1: Marvel US comics continuity Earth 2: Battle Action Force continuity Earth 3: Marvel UK comics Earth 4: my Action Force Regeneration continuity (AF in 2010s) Earth 5: my Action Man: The Greatest Hero of Them All continuity (AM in 2010s) Earth 6: my Combined Universe (mashes up 1,2,3 AND adds new stuff) Earth 7: my Black Sword continuity (GI Joe/British team in v. realistic setting in 2010s) |

My ARAH Joes are perpetually in 1982-1987....the years I collected when I was a kid. Those were the best years of the toy line and the Marvel comic, in my opinion. I do like some of the modern versions, though. I liked the Resolute and Renegades cartoons, and Retaliation is fun.
I also love the AT, Atomic Man, Bullet Man, etc....and those guys just can't get out the '70s, in my mind. Hell, I wish I was still in the '70s. |

Modern Times. The "South East Asia conflict" being replaced with the "Middle East" which flows right along with Iron Man's origin from Korea to Afghanistan.
Colton (and Fury) being the oldest in their early to mid 50s and serving in the Gulf War/Desert Strike/Shield. Hawk (whos still a Colonel) and everyone else over the past 10 year. This also makes it possible for Fury Force to work and Fury having 2 sons (Nick Jr. and Marcus Johnson) serving. |

Stark's origin was Vietnam, not Korea.

I tend to think of them as Modern- but my display is very ARAH ...I can't stand generic, realistic looking soldiers being called G.I.Joe- my team requires a unique style and flare to make the cut- how they look has to say "this is my personality" or "my MOS" - so by modern it's like "the near future" if today were 1980.... or something....

nope. It was 'Nam, later an unspecified SE Asian nation and then Afghanistan.
In the Ultimate universe it was Central America. |

They are toys, and they realize they are toys.
