AFA figures may turn out to be a bust. I am just not convinced that the AFA market can hold under it's own weight. It may end up that HTS may blow these out at deep discounts later on. We will see I guess.

BBTS wouldn't do something like that. They wouldn't sell on Ebay. Call it a gut feeling. What they COULD do is sell the individual Best of 80's packs on their own site for a huge amount. But an e-tailer as big as them wouldn't want to pay fees on another site.

Yeah I gotta agree with foor. And most retailetrs that carry a large amount of stock are not going to hold onto something in the hopes of selling it later for more. They are going to want to move it. Stock means warehousing and warehousing is expensive. Retailers want to hold onto product as short a time as possible.
One thing to consider is that these toys have to come all the way from China. Cargos ships take time to arrive then sit at the dock until they are unloaded. Then the product is trucked to a warehouse here in the states, then distributed to individuals buyers who have to put it in their warehouse. And it is very likely BBTS and others had orders placed for product that Hasbro cancelled. They seem very intent on only marketing movie stuff right now. |

I'm not saying that this scenario is impossible, but BBTS is not a small etailer. They are most likely a multimillion dollar company by this time and I don't think they focus on smaller scale ways to make money. They cater to the collector niche and it would not be wise for them to jeapordize that position by doing what was described.
This is just my opinion. |

I think they just got tired of making chrome faced Cobra Commanders and just shut down the line of DVD packs. I bet later this year this DVD pack with be worth 125.00 on Ebay if it's not there already.

I don't know.... Holding on to product is a serious gamble espceially where HAsbro is concerned. Look at the first wave of 5packs that dropped in price he second the single card versions came out. BBTS had no idea that the 'best of' pack would be so hot until well after the fact. I don't think it's coincidence since this is happening to everyone. Not every etailier had a mafia don pow wow strategizing how they would screw Joe Consumer.
The fact that shelves are still stocked with DVD packs that have a snowball's chance in hell of selling is pretty much all the proof you need for why no new sets are hitting shelves. |

Assuming (and this is really assuming) you are right and they separate the packs to sell them individually. Yes, they can sell the best of the 80's more expensive, but how much are they able to get for the #2,#3 and #4 packs? IMO, they would rather sell them together to get rid of of 2-4.

Several months ago I placed a BBTS preorder for a set of G.I. Joe DVD battles packs. The set had DVD battles 2, 3, 4 and most importantly set 5 BEST OF THE 80's. Well guess what, the ship date was for may and I just received an email from BBTS saying that they didn't receive their shipment of best of the 80's from Hasbro so they have to cancel everyone's preorders.

BBTS also has a tendency to fill individual orders over case buys which ticks me off royally. I have at time bought a case for $60-$80 of a set of figures and then placed a separate order for one or two extra figures from the same set (at @$4-5 dollars more per figure) only to get the individual figures in the mail and have the case show up 1-2 months later. BBTS is VERY sneaky that way. They give the individual figures priority even if you ordered the case the day the pre-order went up and ordered an individual figure a month or two later. The extra profit seems to be more of an incentive than a case order (as they can always break up the case and sell them individually as well if you cancel). I don't like BBTS practice very much but at least their customer service is pretty good (which is why I keep buying but eventually I will wise up and they will lose a good chunk o' change).
