OK so over the last week I bought...
Snake Eyes Declassified
GI Joe Declassified
America's Elite #25-current
I did not follow the Marvel
stuff. What is the best series of my
line-up? I'd like to work
my way up to the better stories.

Dreadnoks is interesting but, well, I'll let you judge for yourself.
"I'm one of those people that finds heavily moderated or utterly uncritical places to be unbearable. The idea of posting on a website where every new release is met with enthusiasm fills me with dread."

I loved thier series, the only thing about DDP that I havent liked ( and mind you Larry Did the same thing ) is the one page introduction of a character and on then on the same page killing them off , that always bugged me, but to be fair Larry is the biggest offender of that complaint, Deejay anyone??? LOL he had a one page panel and it was the first time being shown and he was already dead, arghhhhhh

I read the entire Devils Due run (the 02 version), and maybe the first 3 issues of America's elite. While I was familiar with some of the Marvel stuff, I missed many issues along the creating gaping holes in my knowledge of said run.
That being said I enjoyed the DD run, it had it's ups and downs but maybe nostalgia for GI Joe blinded me to the truth. I know posess all the Marvel run (thanks Xerofall) so I am in the process of reading it. I'll rethink my remarks after completeing that task.
And for Deadnocks : Declassified, I thought it was a fun read. I'm sure there were continuty issues with it, but I enjoyed it.

My Random thoughts on the DDP series.
When DDP first debuted it's version of GIJoe under Blaylock's writing I found it to be storywise somewhere just above a Days of Our Lives type comic book. Suddenly its 7 years later, Destro has an illegitimate son, Zartan has a daughter, SE and Scarlett never made it down the aisle, Flint and LJ did... yawn. Four parter ends on the White House lawn... cue Sunbow cartoon theme. All it was missing was a PSA from Bill on Capitol Hill. Steve Kurth's pencils on Micronauts were much better than his pencils on GIJoe. Not sure if this was editorial or a personal choice, but I wish he would have went with the MIcronauts style in Joe.
Instead of an original idea for 21, let's attempt to recapture the magic of the original. Sorry but lighting doesn't strike twice.
Cobra Civil War (where have we seen that before). Hey guess what, Serpentor dies again. Add a few Joe deaths for shock factor. The story did start to pick up around 24 / 25 though.
Blaylock's run could be described as a whole lot of setup followed by rushed and weak endings.
Enter Brandon Jerwa in 26 (officially). Finally a writer who gets it. The story and pacing improve dramatically. There's a little too much angst among some Joes, but they're getting old and crotchety so all is forgiven. The Stall family debuts. Probably the best contribution DDP has put into the Hama-verse so far at the time. Tim Sealey's pencils are some of the best I've seen in a Joe book.
Rise of the Red Shadows... you can smell the editorial influence, and the story suffers because it. Circulation is dipping so a relaunch is in the works. Jerwa is moved to SE Declassfied. Big name "superstar" Joe Casey is on tap for the new series.
LJ death. Worst idea ever, and I'm not even much of an LJ fan.
[during that time we had Frontline. A number of different writers, the debut of Jerwa as a Joe writer. All in all a very good series that unfortunately got the ax. Joereloaded. Paul Jenkins kicks serious ass with Cobra Reborn. Unfortunately it's all down hill from there. John Ney Rieber should not be paid to write comicbooks. Chuck Dixon attempts to save the title, but unfortunately it was too late. Declassified's begin with Jerwa on SE. Great idea, great series of books until Dreadnoks, er Zartan Declassified (Had it been a one shot and mostly just the 3rd issue it wouldn't have been that bad.]
So... here's the flashy new Joe series, America's (Spandex) Elite, by "superstar" Joe Casey (who up to that year's con had a knowledge base of [to paraphrase from the man himself] "skimming through a few trades"). Wow. The team looks like the X-Men. The team acts like the X-men. Stories have similarities to past Marvel stories. Flint Castle is that you? The Scarlet Spide... er Snake Eyes makes a miraculous recovery from being drown'ed. How did he do it? Ninja Mumbo Jumbo! (I swear Joe Casey was in on the Marvel meeting on how to explain OMD... it's magic!)
Special Missions becomes the only readable G.I.Joe comic.
Then after talking with Mike O at the '06 con I'm given tidbits that Casey has become a wino (Writer in name only). Suddenly the story does a 180. CC is back. Cobra has infiltrated the government. The Baroness is kicking ass. Phoenix Guard is a great idea (although most everyone called it). The book is fun to read. Mark Powers takes over for WWIII. The story is a little slow in the beginning, but the pace has now picked up. There's still way too much though that is alluded to and left to our imaginations. Unfortunately the writing is on the wall. DDP doesn't seem to want to promote this series much less this 12 issue event. Maybe Hasbro has a hand in it, maybe not. It's a shame though. I only hope the series ends with a bang... or at least a conclusion to the Hama-verse, so the new licensee can start fresh with a reboot or movie related book.
