I like to watch longplays from time to time. Joe was a great game that has interesting stuff from that odd period in between Sunbow and DiC(!). I've got most of the enemies figured out but there are a couple I don't know.
https://youtu.be/n9LbzPEyitA Vipers Heat vipers Toxo vipers Laser vipers Cobra La dudes I think Frag vipers Night creepers Rock vipers The guys on the flying sleds are from the Bugg maybe? I don't know what the ceiling dudes are and I think there's another ninja type with a big sword that I don't know. Also those dudes in the sewer that die before they even do anything. I thought those might be night creepers but I dunno.

I actually just played through this game over the weekend and I'm playing the sequel right now. While I was playing I thought the ones on the ceiling were clones of Overlord as I believe this is his stage. It was kinda common back in the day to have lesser enemies be clones of bosses, see Ninja Gaiden II. But now that I look at it again I'm wondering if they are Lampreys or Hydro-Vipers.
It's kinda funny because this game has so many enemies that are instantly recognizable even for an 8-bit game, and many of them use their signature weapons and techniques. Frag-Vipers throw grenades, Rock-Vipers repel from ceilings, Night-Vipers cloak like they are hiding, Vipers are unthinking cannon fodder that walk back and forth on platforms. The sequel, Atlantis Factor, has enemies that are a little tougher to recognize. |

The early flying sleds are the rocket sled vehicle action pack. The guys on Bugg sleds appear when with the Bugg level boss.

This game was great! It was a fun game on its own but it really did make great use of all the characters and vehicles they had at their disposal. I haven't actually played it in at least 5 years but I really should go give it a spin.

I don't think I could even full identify who some of the minor, unidentified bosses were. Was it supposed to be Road Pig? It was hard to tell. |

You're right. I watched the video and the Hydro-Vipers are in stage 1, and they don't look half bad and are identifiable. So those guys hanging out on the ceiling are definitely not Hydro-Vipers. You definitely notice things watching that you don't see when playing.
What I think is cool is that in the Jungle stage they could have used any animal as a generic enemy but they opted to use Gnawgahyde's boar. Talk about attention to detail. |

Looking at a speed run of Atlantis, I only recognize SAW vipers, and Croc Master is a mid boss. Laser viper might be a midboss too but I'm not sure. Road Pig is a midboss as well but who knows if that's really him or just a reused sprite.
No idea who those dudes that punch and kick are. Or the other guys with large rifles. Gonna need to get some screen shots. Quote:
