so i just got off the phone with my dad a fellow lover of all things G.I.JOE & Military and he is shipping me a rubber maid container filled with toys from days gone by im stoked and had to share the news i may be willing to trade some of the stuff once i see all what it is and the condition. It made me wonder how many other tankers have caches at there parents places and if there parents have there own collections also how many of you have raided that stash

no stash at my mom's place. I have always collected toys in moderation, so I have always kept mine with me. However, my mom has a rediculous collection of Barbie dolls and 12" Joes, both vintage and re-issues. If I was to guess, I would venture to say in excess of 3000 12" dolls, plus accs.
I have no interest in raiding that though.

i raided what was left at my mom's. well... she kinda ordered me to raid it cuz she thinks she's dying soon so she's getting rid of everything (don't worry she's not dying... and she doesn't really think she's dying... she's just a slightly deranged existentialist) anyways...
i've been selling it all for pay pal funds. star wars bend ems, star wars micro machines, star wars die cast stuff, hummels, x-men figures, etc. no joes though. she gave all those away when i was younger.

My father was active duty military up until a few months ago, so they've never stayed in one house long enough for me to leave things around. As for them collecting... My mother went through a barbie collecting phase (She can keep those), and I don't think my dad played with toys as a kid, so collecting them now is pretty out of the question.

Well, when my dad died and mom moved into a nursing home, in the attic we found a big box full of unused douches. Probably twenty of them. Not a joke.
My dad was addicted to flea markets, Big Lots and other closeout stores. My guess is the douches were like a nickel each or something and he couldn't resist. My hope, anyway. It's one of those things we didn't get to ask him after his death: "What's up with all the douches in the attic, Dad?" |

I picked up a lot of my uncle's old G.I.JOE's from the 60's & 70's! )I had to buy 3 of those rather large plastic containers to store just the dolls and uniforms. (that's what got me into collecting Action Man, and Max Steel). Now my storage closet is full of that stuff.

I hit a yardsale when I was a kid and found a very large amount of Joe's, the Joe base, and like 10 or so veicals, and 30 or so figs, but I think my nephew swiped em back in the day, just starting to get interested in Joe's again.
